ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC
Definition: Instruments which create
sound without electrical amplifiers
Definition: Instruments which require
amplifiers to produce sufficient and good
quality sound
History: Earliest stringed acoustic
instruments (bowl harps & tanburs) were
being used during Egyptian times
History: First electrical instrument is
claimed to be the Denis DOr created in
1748
Generating Sound: Built as resonators
(create loud, musical sound by reflection
or vibration)
Generating Sound: Produce electric
signal for amplifier which then creates a
sufficient sound through a loudspeaker
Examples: Banjo, Marimba, Piccolo,
Xylophone, Maracas
Examples: Omni chord, Synthesizer,
Wave drum, Denis DOr, Theremin
Brands: C.F. Martin, Taylor Guitars Brands: Fender, Gibson
