TASK: You will investigate the artist Jeannie Baker through the agencies of the Conceptual Framework: Artist-Artwork-World-Audience. Her website may be useful for this task- http://www.jeanniebaker.com/
This task will be broken up into the four agencies of the Conceptual Framework, each with a new heading to indicate what agency you are addressing. Each section is to be 200 words in length - with the total assignment consisting of 800 words Things to research when writing about each Conceptual Framework agency: Artist: What are the artists influences? What is the background (historical) information of the artist? After reading and researching about Jeannie Baker, comment on what type of person you think Jeannie Baker is and what her world may consist of? Artwork: What art materials, media or mediums does the artist work with? Has the artists changed mediums over time? If so, why? Name and describe at least one artwork or book of Jeannie Bakers. Discuss the materials used to make it, the composition and the subject matter of the work. Include an image of this work. World: What area/s of the world has the artist chose to comment on? Describe or illustrate this point with evidence directly seen in the artwork or image chosen. What changes in the world have influenced the artists work?
Audience: Where is/was the artwork or book exhibited or sold? Who or what was the artwork made for? Did her books win awards? Why do you think so?
Marking Criteria: You will be assessed on: Your ability to demonstrate your understanding of the four different Conceptual framework agencies (5.8) Your ability to construct demonstrate how the critical and historical study of Jeannie Baker can develop meaning about her work and her world (5.10)
