You are advised to spend 60 minutes writing an essay on your chosen topic in this booklet.
Write clearly and coherently about ONE written text that you have studied:

Write an essay of AT LEAST 350 words for your answer.
Make sure you answer your chosen question fully.
Support your answer with specic evidence from the text(s) of your choice.

written text or texts you have studied.
2. Analyse how the writer(s) develop(s) the personality of an important character for a
particular purpose in a written text or texts you have studied.
3. Analyse how setting(s) are used for a particular purpose in a written text or texts you
have studied. (Note: setting can be the social, geographical or historical setting, or a
combination of these)
4. Analyse the purpose of a writer or writers in describing an important incident at the
beginning OR end of a written text or texts you have studied.
5. Analyse the purpose of a writer or writers in describing the development of a changing
relationship between characters in a written text or texts you have studied.
6. Analyse how the writer(s) use(s) language techniques for a particular purpose in a written
text or texts you have studied.
7. Analyse how symbols are used to develop an important theme in a text (or texts) you
have studied.
8. Analyse how ONE important idea is developed in at least TWO different genres you have
studied. (Note: Genres and text types may include: short story, drama script, novel,
types of poetry and song, print or non-fction texts.)
