Task 2 Assignment 2
With the increase in low-cost airlines, overseas travel has never been
easier or more affordable. However, some people believe that such
travel should be limited or stopped altogether to preserve the planet.

How far do you agree with this viewpoint?
Should governments put measures in place to control the amount of air
travel?

People have been able to travel more due to recently introduced low-cost airline
systems. This trend has many positive impacts for tourism and related services
industries. However, increased air-traffic could cause negative consequences for
the environment and governments have to evaluate this and work together to
develop a global strategy to minimize its effects.

Low-cost airlines ticket prices are considerably affordable in addition to their
reasonably attractive services. Therefore, people have started to travel more for
leisure and business purposes result in improvement in tourism and related
industries. Tourism has been benefited for both developing and developed countries
by providing more jobs and investment opportunities. I n other words, low-cost
airlines provided a significant contribution to economies all over the world.

I n contrast to above benefits, increased air travel causes severe damage to the
environment which cannot be corrected easily. For example, an air plane burns
huge amount of fuel in a single trip and releases considerable amount of toxic
gases to the air. Moreover, air planes damage to the ozone layer of the earths
atmosphere which blocks harmful radiation of the sun. Both negative impacts are
not easily repairable and impact will be more on the generations to come.

I n conclusion, low-cost airlines have considerably contributed to the economies of
countries while causing significant damages to the earths environment. Therefore,
governments have to consider this matter seriously and evaluate the situation and
come to a global agreement in order to minimize the impact of environment caused
by the increased air-travel.
