- Gives Australia a better reputation
- Improve the recipient countrys wellbeing
(i.e. Poverty, mortality rate)
- Influencing Trade
- Save lives (addresses humanitarian issues)
- Raising the standard of services in the
region.
- Stimulate economic developments (i.e.
Infrastructure) which could possibly lead to
economic growth.
- By making countries improve their health
systems, this would prevent the flow of
diseases (people travel around)
- By making countries more secure, we
would be surrounded by more peaceful and
safe countries.
- Promote economic growth within the
donors country (tied aid)
- Strengthen Security

- Cost money and resources
- Long- term investments could fail.
- Countries can be become too reliant on
Australia.
- Corruption within the country can result in
uneven distribution of aid.
- Could only be a short term fix.
- Doesnt create a sustainable economy for
the recipient country.
- It may not be welcomed within the country
- Other countries may look down on
Australia if they dont have positive
relations with the recipient country.
