Outline

Replacement

1. Remove the Plate MR.

2. Disconnect the Connectors (CN920/CCM-15 Board, CN233/HN-184 Board)

3. Remove the Gear Box Assembly

4. Remove the Threading Motor

5. Remove the CCM-15 Board

6. Install the CCM-15 Board

7. Smear Grease

8 Install the Threading Motor

9. Install the Gear Box Assembly

10. Connect the Connectors (CN920/CCM-15 Board, CN233/HN-184 Board)

11. Install the Plate MR

Adjustment after Replacement

12. Confirm the Threading Motor Operation


(Refer to Section 5-2 in Maintenance Manual Part 1.)

3-4. TAPE TENSION CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT

Tools

. Tension measurement jig (PG-274)


for NTSC model: J-7032-740-A
for PAL model: J-7032-740-B
. Tension meter: Tentel Corp. T2-H7-UMC
. Locking compound: 7-432-114-11

Check

1. Turn on the power and keep it more than half


an hour. Tension meter
2. Calibrate the Tension meter, referring to its
Operation Manual.
3. Insert the probes of the Tension meter to the
Tension measurement jig.
4. Pull out the tape from the cassette incorporat-
ed in the tension measurement jig. Thread the
tape through the probes of the tension meter
as shown in the illustration.
5. Turn off the power.

6. Remove the following parts.


. Cassette compartment (Refer to the Mainte-
nance Manual Part 1 Section 1-2-2.)
. Video head cleaner assembly (Refer to Tension measurement jig Tape
Section 2-17.)
. Upper drum cover (Refer to Section 2-12.) Tension Measurement Jig and Tension Meter
. Brush/slip ring cover (See the illustration in
the right.)
Caution
. Don’t touch the brush/slip ring during the Screw (B2 x 5)
state of power on as it is loaded by the
high voltage. Screw (B2 x 5)
. Turn the brush/slip ring counterclockwise Brush/Slip ring cover
in order to prevent it from interfering with
the tension measurement jig.

7. Turn on the power.


8. Press the EJECT button.
9. Press the S700 switch on the SS-52 board to
shift the reel tables to the position of S cas-
sette (Refer to the Maintenance Manual Part 1
Section 1-10-1.)
10. Put the tension measurement jig attached with
the tension meter on the reel tables.

11. Press the STOP button. Now the tape is


threaded.
12. Press the PLAY button and then check the
value of the tension meter.
Specification:
Value of the tension meter = 32 ± 3 g
Check that the tape runs in the stable state by
observing the SAT ENV signal. (Refer to the
Maintenance Manual Part 1 Section 8-4-3.)
If the value is not fulfilled, perform adjustment
according to the step 17.
13. Press the EJECT button.
14. Turn off the power.
15. Remove the Tension measurement jig.
16. Attach the following parts.
. Brush/slip ring cover
. Upper drum cover
. Video head cleaner assembly
. Cassette compartment

17. Loosen the fixing screw shown in the illustra-


tion as much as 1/2 turn. S tension regulator assembly
18. Put a flat blade screwdriver in the notch shown Fixing screw
in the illustration and turn it, reading the value
Notch
on the tension meter.
Specification:
Value of the tension meter = 32 ± 3 g
19. When the value of the tension meter satisfies
with the specification, tighten the fixing screw
and reassure that the value of the tension
meter still satisfies with the specification.
If the value should be out of the specification,
then repeat adjustment resuming the step 17.
20. Press the EJECT button.
21. Turn off the power.
S Tension Regulator Assembly
22. Remove the tension measurement jig.
23. Paste the locking compound for the fixing
screw.
24. Attach the following parts.
. Brush/slip ring cover
. Upper drum cover
. Video head cleaner assembly
. Cassette compartment

Tension Offset Adjustment & Data Saving

25. Turn on the power.


26. Perform the tension offset adjustment.
(Refer to Maintenance Manual Part 1 Section
5-7-1.)
27. Save the adjustment data.
(Refer to Maintenance Manual Part 1 Section
5-7-1.)

Tape-running Check

In case that the adjustments have been performed


in line with the procedures of the item 17 afterward,
it needs for you to check the tape-running, too.
(Refer to the Maintenance Manual Part 1 Section
8-4-2.)

in the “A1:RF ADJUST” mode
at the maintenance mode.
Oscilloscope
Step 1 TP423/EQ-45(*F-1)
• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the A19: ADV LEVEL
oscilloscope to TP103 and Ach LEVEL
TP423 on the EQ-45 board. Cch LEVEL
• Play back the alignment tape
ZR5-1P.

A = 800 ± 100 mV TRIG:TP103/EQ-45(C-1)

Step 2 Oscilloscope
• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP523/EQ-45(*E-1) A19: ADV LEVEL
oscilloscope to TP103 and Bch LEVEL
TP523 on the EQ-45 board. Dch LEVEL
• Play back the alignment tape
ZR5-1P.

A = 800 ± 100 mV TRIG:TP103/EQ-45(C-1)

oscilloscope to TP105 and Cch LEVEL
TP623 on the EQ-45 board.
• Play back the alignment tape
ZR5-1P.

Step 4 (for DVW-A500P/500P only) Oscilloscope A1A:CNF LEVEL


• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP723/EQ-45(*B-1) Bch LEVEL
oscilloscope to TP105 and Dch LEVEL
TP723 of the EQ-45 board.
• Play back the alignment tape
ZR5-1P.

• Save adjustment data.

Step 1 Oscilloscope ADV AC DELAY
• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP421 - TP422 1 RV401/EQ-45(G-3)
oscilloscope to TP421 and TP422
on the EQ-45 board.
• Display CH1 only, and adjust “H
POSITION” so that cross point of A=3.8 ± 0.2 ns
the bright lines is as shown in the
Fig. A.
• Display CH2 only. (Fig. B) TRIG:CH1

Step 2 Oscilloscope ADV BC DELAY


• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP521 - TP522 1 RV501/EQ-45(E-3)
oscilloscope to TP521 and TP522
on the EQ-45 board.
• Display CH1 only, and adjust “H A=3.8 ± 0.2 ns
POSITION” so that cross point of
the bright lines is as shown in the
Fig. A.
• Display CH2 only. (Fig. B) TRIG:CH1

Step 3 (for DVW-A500/500 only) Oscilloscope CNF AC DELAY


• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP621 - TP622 1 RV601/EQ-45(C-3)
oscilloscope to TP621 and
TP622 on the EQ-45 board.
• Display CH1 only, and adjust “H A=3.8 ± 0.2 ns
POSITION” so that cross point of
the bright lines is as shown in the
Fig. A.
• Display CH2 only. (Fig. B) TRIG:CH1

Step 4 (for DVW-A500/500 only) Oscilloscope CNF BD DELAY


• Connect CH1 and CH2 of the TP721 - TP722 1 RV701/EQ-45(B-3)
oscilloscope to TP721 and TP722
on the EQ-45 board.
• Display CH1 only, and adjust “H A=3.8 ± 0.2 ns
POSITION” so that cross point of
the bright lines is as shown in the
Fig. A.
• Display CH2 only. (Fig. B) TRIG:CH1

Step 1 Digital Voltmeter ADV AC VREF
• Set to STOP mode. + TP808/EQ-45(F-2) 1RV802/EQ-45(F-1)
• Connect the + side of the digital _ TP403/EQ-45(F-2)
voltmeter to TP808, and the _
side to TP403. 660 ± 2 mV
• Insert the alignment tape ZR5-1P,
and set to PLAY mode.

Step 2 Digital Voltmeter ADV BD VREF


• Connect the + side of the digital + TP809/EQ-45(D-2) 1RV804/EQ-45(E-1)
voltmeter to TP809, and the _ _ TP503/EQ-45(D-2)
side to TP503.
• Insert the alignment tape ZR5-1P, 660 ± 2 mV
and set to PLAY mode.

Step 3 (for DVW-A500P/500P only) Digital Voltmeter CNF AC VREF


• Connect the + side of the digital + TP908/EQ-45(C-2) 1RV902/EQ-45(C-1)
voltmeter to TP908, and the _ _ TP603/EQ-45(C-2)
side to TP603.
• Insert the alignment tape ZR5-1P, 660 ± 2 mV
and set to PLAY mode.

Step 4 (for DVW-A500P/500P only) Digital Voltmeter CNF BD VREF


• Connect the + side of the digital + TP909/EQ-45(A-2) 1RV904/EQ-45(B-1)
voltmeter to TP909, and the _ _ TP707/EQ-45(A-2)
side to TP707.
• Insert the alignment tape ZR5-1P, 660 ± 2 mV
and set to PLAY mode.

• Connect CH2 of the oscilloscope 1RV901/EQ-45(D-4)(*C-5)
to TP901 on the EQ-45 board.

Step 4 (for DVW-A500P/500P only) CNF BD PLL FREE RUN


• Connect CH2 of the oscilloscope 1RV903/EQ-45(B-4)(*B-5)
to TP902 on the EQ-45 board.
