TRUTH
A child asked his father, "How were
people born?" So his father said, "Adam

to become like we are now." The child ran
back to his father and said, "You lied to
me!" His father replied, "No, your mom
was talking about her side of the family."

Obama to delay executive action
on immigration until after election
WASHINGTON - Bowing to political concerns,
President Obama will not announce any plans
to take executive action to change immigration
policy until after the November elections,
despite promising in June he would act before
the end of summer.
The decision comes just a few days after
Obama hinted that he might delay a decision
as he continues to call on Congress to take
steps to overhaul the nation's immigration
laws.
Senate Democrats have warned that any bold
executive action ran the risk of upending the
chances of several Democratic incumbents
running for reelection in southern states,
where Obama is unpopular and the issue of
immigration reform isn't as urgent.
Republicans must win six seats to take control
of the Senate.
"What I'm saying is that I'm going to act
because it's the right thing for the country. But
it's going to be more sustainable and more
effective if the public understands what the
facts are on immigration, what we've done on
unaccompanied children [on the southern
border], and why it's necessary."Obama said in
an interview on NBC.

Asrar At-Tanzil
The English Tafseer of Quran
By: Ameer Muhammad Akram Awan
Surah Name: Al-Baqarah
Meaning:The Cow
Revealed at Madinah
Continued from previous issue
Tasawwuf Is Not To Be Concealed
The Ayah also alludes to Tasawwuf the most
precious of Allaah-SWT s bounties. It is not to
be concealed, but conveyed to others. A
Muslim is not only accountable for scrutinizing
the permissible and the forbidden while
earning his livelihood, but is also responsible
for the manner in which he spends his wealth.
He is not to spend a single penny against the
wishes of Allah-SWT, a golden rule laid down
only by Islam. Practically, it is most effective
because where the expenditure is limited; the
desire to amass unlimited wealth will not arise.
This will only be possible by a total adherence
to the Holy Prophet-SWs teachings.
And those who believe in and that
revealed before you.
A believer must accept from the core of his
heart what has been revealed unto the Holy
Prophet-SW and also take as true the
revelations that had been revealed unto other
Messengers-AS of Allaah-SWT before
him-SW. Though now actions must conform
only to the Final Book. In fact the Divine
Scriptures are so honourable and exalted that
the denial of any one of them makes a person
non-believer though it may not have even
reached him. For example, if someone
proclaims that he does not believe in the
Scriptures revealed unto Prophet Ibrahim-AS,
he instantly becomes a non-believer, even if
he has no knowledge of what had been
revealed therein.
Finality Of Prophethood Proved
Had there been any possibility of the
continuation of such Prophet-hood after the
Holy Prophet-SW or of any Revelation after
the Quran, then more emphasis and details
would have revealed as compared to the
mention of the previous Scriptures, because a
denial of any forthcoming revelations too
would have rendered a person a non-believer.
But here the words revealed before you
provide an impressive proof that
Prophet-hood and Divine Revelation have
concluded with the era of the Holy
Prophet-SW The return of Prophet Isa-AS will
not change the situation, because he-AS is
already acknowledged as a Prophet-AS by the
believers. There is no possibility of a new
Prophet and revelation coming. Those who
have claimed Prophet-hood have only built
castles in the air, have deluded themselves
and have caused others to go astray.
Although belief in the Akhirah is an essential
part of belief in the unseen, yet its importance
is such that the entire structure of human life is
based upon it. It calls for an exceptionally
strong and firm belief, which compels a
believer to consider the eternal consequences
of actions before hand, and at every step be
mindful of the dos and donts laid down by the
Holy Prophet-SW. As a result, his life begins to
mould on the pattern of the Sunnah. The
reason for the prevalent waywardness in
todays world is the weakness of belief in the
Akhirah. The perfect faith is ones total
acceptance from the core of the heart and
such sure-footed believers are the ones who
are guided towards the right path by their
Rabb-SWT , and are successful. It was
expected of His-SWT Providence to provide
His-SWT creation with guidance. Just as
He-SWT gave the sense of fulfilling physical
requirements to every being, He-SWT has
also shown the ways of achieving spiritual
comfort and peace. Those who follow
His-SWT guidance become truly successful.
Every human being strives for success in each
aspect of his life and every one has his own
criteria of right and wrong, which cannot be
termed as absolute. The real standards are
those set by the Creator-SWT of the universe.
The guidance about these criteria began with
Prophet Aadam-AS and continued through the
ages, concluding on the Holy Prophet-SW. If
even after the advent of the Holy Prophet-SW
one fails to embrace faith, it would simply
mean that he has, because of his
wrongdoings, lost the inherent capacity to
accept the truth.
As for those who disbelieve they will
not embrace faith.
Those who do not believe in Allah-SWT, even
after listening to the Holy Prophet-SW directly,
are indeed incapable of believing; as there can
be none more exalted than the Holy
Prophet-SW and no Divine Scripture superior
to the one revealed unto him-SW. In order to
grasp this point, consider that the physical
body and the Spirit together constitute a
human being. The former has its own needs
and is dependent upon many things, of which
foremost is food and clothing for its survival;
but even more important is its health and
medical care. If health is bad, neither food
benefits nor clothes give any comfort. While
food can be obtained from anywhere and from
anyone, medicine can only be prescribed by a
medical practitioner, and we always consult
him. ( To be continued on next issue)

Syrian rebel group replaces leadership wiped out by blast
BEIRUT, Lebanon - The new head of the
Islamist group Ahrar Al-Sham, once one of the
strongest militias in the Syrian civil war, has
urged fellow insurgents to fight on after a blast
on Tuesday wiped out its senior leadership.
In a video on YouTube, Ahrar Al-Sham said
Hashem Al-Sheikh, also known as Abu
Jaber, had been named its new leader and
Abu Saleh Tahan its new military chief.
Another video showed a man identified as Abu
Jaber exhorting his men to fight on.
Among those killed in the explosion in
northwestern Syria was Ahrar Al-Shams
former leader Hassan Aboud, said the group
which is part of the Islamic Front alliance
fighting both the Syrian army and the now
dominant Islamic State movement.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a
group monitoring the conflict, said the blast
killed 28 of Ahrar Al-Shams commanders,
dealing a major blow to the organization that is
believed to have received funds from Gulf
states.
Jihadi men of our nation ... do not let the crisis
shake you or the calamity divide you, Abu
Jaber said on the video while eulogizing the
dead. Rise, let us die for what they have died.
Rise, let us die for what they have died for,
he said in a statement read from behind a
desk.
Some 50 of the groups leaders had gathered
at a house when the blast went off inside,
according to the Observatory. There has been
no claim of responsibility for the blast, which
took place in Syrias Idlib province.
Some observers have described Tuesdays
incident as a gas attack. Abu Baraa, a rebel
figure from a group allied with Ahrar Al-Sham,
said a doctor who examined the bodies said
there was little visible sign of external injuries.
The doctor saw bodies with frothing at the
mouth and fluid coming from the eyes and
noses, Abu Baraa said, adding the group had
been meeting in a heavily fortified
underground bunker.
This was a highly sophisticated attack in a
location that was very secure, he said. Photos
posted on social media claiming to show the
victims of the attack displayed bodies that did
not appear to have significant external injuries.
Other reports suggested the victims had died
from smoke inhalation. It was not possible to
independently verify any of the reports or
pictures or the cause of the deaths.
The Hague-based Organization for the
Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)
said in a statement it had found compelling
evidence that chlorine gas was used
systematically and repeatedly as a weapon in
northern Syria this year.
The loss of its senior leadership has come at a
significant time for Ahrar Al-Sham, said
Charles Lister, visiting fellow at the Brookings
Doha Center.
This potentially crippling blow comes during a
period in which Ahrar Al-Shams senior officials
have begun adopting more moderate stances
in Syria, including considering joining larger
moderate coalitions, he wrote in an analysis.
The gutting of Ahrar Al-Shams leadership will
have major ripple effects in the opposition,
researcher Aron Lund wrote on the Carnegie
Endowment for International Peaces Syria
website.
Unless Ahrar Al-Sham somehow manages to
recover and sustain its relevance as a major
Islamist faction, the Islamic Front may now be
beyond repair, he wrote.
US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in
Baghdad on Wednesday as part of a tour of
the Middle East aimed at building military,
political and financial support to defeat Islamic
State.

Egypt is back on track
By: Linda S. Hheard
President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi has a
mammoth task ahead of him and he knows it.
Modernizing a country, whose institutions,
educational facilities, hospitals and
infrastructure have been chipped away by
neglect or corruption for decades, cant
happen in a blink of an eye.
Hes been careful not to make unrealistic
promises; hes admitted he cant do it alone.
Hes asked the Egyptian people for patience
and, until now, theyve responded positively,
despite inflationary prices, higher energy bills,
a reduction of petrol subsidies and regular
electricity outrages.
Most Egyptians appreciate his honest
approach while keeping an eye on his steps
toward progress. Even the most egotistical
and ambitious among his political rivals would
shy away from walking in his shoes given the
challenges he faces in a nation that rose up
against three presidents in as many years.
Those challenges that would undoubtedly
send lesser mortals running for the hills
include a massive external debt burden
running at over 85 percent of GDP, a deficit of
natural gas from domestic fields entailing the
import LNG to the tune of $12 billion over four
years. Add to that the fact that just over a
quarter of the population is illiterate, 26
percent live under the poverty line while the
unemployment rate stands at 13.3 percent.
Nevertheless, El-Sissi remains undeterred;
saying visible change for the better is only a
matter of time.
One of his priorities is education, the quality of
which has been deteriorating for decades
Besides new 21st Century curricula, a drive to
insert computers in classrooms, measures to
discourage dropouts and the introduction of a
school nutritional program, the government
proposes to construct or upgrade 1,000
schools during the coming 12 months.
To boost exports and jobs, there are plans to
develop existing industrial complexes and
build new ones as well as factories. The
investment maps include the development of
26 cities and tourist centers across 21
governorates, the modernization and
expansion of Cairo, as well as long-neglected
parts of the country such as Upper Egypt,
Marsa Matrouh and the Sinai Peninsula. The
housing shortage is being tackled with a $40
billion deal with the Dubai firm Arabtec to
construct one million new homes.
It goes without saying that the most high
profile project and the apple of the Presidents
eye is the piece de resistance of his mega
public works program the expansion of the
Suez Canal with a 34 kilometer parallel
channel, rail and vehicle tunnels as well as a
duty-free zone, anticipated to increase
revenues by 260 percent. To garner the
required $8.4 billion, the government has
issued non-transferable five-year investment
certificates, available only to Egyptian
nationals, banks and investment houses, with
a 12 percent guaranteed annual yield. In the
few days since the offer became available,
over $2 billion has been raised which speaks
as much to its attractive terms as it does to the
Egyptians renewed sense of patriotism.
Progress is slow but sure. And, despite the
gloom and doom merchants in the
international media, there is good news.
Tourists are back. The summer hotels along
the Red Sea boasted up to 80 percent
capacity following the lifting/softening of
negative travel advisories and visitors to Egypt
second largest city on the Mediterranean,
Alexandria, were hard pressed to book hotels
rooms.
That said, like many perhaps even most
regional countries, Egypt battles a terrorism
threat. Militant groups such as Ansar Beit
Al-Maqdis and the so-called Islamic State are
working together to bring down the Egyptian
government. Moreover, the Muslim
Brotherhood plots from within and without to
undermine El-Sissis presidency, disregarding
the needs and the wants of 90 million
Egyptians seeking security, stability and
prosperity.
El-Sissi may have shoulders of steel but he
needs all the help he can get from friends and
allies until the boulders obstructing his vision
can be removed. To that end, on Saturday, he
formed a high voltage presidential advisory
council to provide a strategic vision for the
Egyptian state in the future.
Ultimately, El-Sissi should be appreciated for
his foresight and the strength of character that
fuels his determination to move mountains.
Anyone who truly loves Egypt, is keen to see it
flourish and reassert its crucial regional
leadership role, should root for him, which
translates to rooting for people hes pledged to
serve.

Pakistan
Since the 80s, dictatorships dominating the
Third World began to topple. People believed
democracy would bring them their rights and
fulfill their needs. It didnt happen. Instead
structural adjustment caused unprecedented
hunger and deprivation. In Pakistan, autocrats
and industrial barons collaborated with
feudalism doubly strengthened by the takeover
of some political parties, justifying themselves
with democratic lingo.
Nawaz Sharif feels that election to power gives
his party the right to centralized and unilateral
decision-making, brooking no consensus let
alone dissent. Voters are then expected to
withdraw from any involvement whatsoever.
Completely sweeping aside one of the key
factors of democracy ongoing active citizen
participation.
Citizens cant afford to take any declared
democracy for granted but keep a constant
eye on how developments affect them locally,
spotlighting anything undemocratic. This is
possible only when citizens are adequately
informed about democratic processes and the
justice system protects their self-expression
against intimidation. But its impossible for the
masses kept ignorant by design.
The marginalized can however be empowered
by oral and visual education designed for
them. Strength also comes from informed
numbers banding together. This is exactly
where media, essentially television, failed, as it
didnt bring advertising revenue. They do little
or nothing for the public interest although they
are part of society and profit from it. Only in
one recent instances before the sit-ins began,
one channel telecast a series of simple
lectures for laypersons and uninformed
citizens by Dr. Qadri on specific Articles of the
Constitution listing the requisites for citizens
and democracy.
In a participatory democracy citizens need to
be informed about public issues and debate
them on an ongoing basis. As taxpayer-funded
institutions, the government media PTV and
Radio Pakistan should especially be doing
this.
Instead, NGOs undertook this task because no
one else would. But NGO outreach is limited,
and unable to link theory with practice without
getting involved in local politics that is bound to
raise the ire of local dominant politicians and
parties. So it leaves the effort half-done.
A lot of unparliamentary language was used by
some politicians. The spat between Aitzaz
Ahsan and Chaudhry Nisar and the
not-so-veiled threats was highly entertaining.
Most parliamentarians seized the opportunity
of being on national television to talk about
their illustrious pedigrees and claimed track
records while exposing the limits of their
knowledge and expertise. The Speaker
blocked all except those permitted by the PM.
Women said nothing. Hardly democratic. The
former PM stepped-down gentleman-like,
without making an ego-issue of resigning. But
then, the law in Pakistan is largely a matter of
interpretation. Its easy to understand why the
opposition backs the PM irrespective, but not
why Aitzaz chose the PM and a defective
process over the people.
The jirgas credibility was instantly killed by
the much-discredited Rehman Malik, otherwise
known as His Masters Voice and Front Man,
whose chief contribution appears to be
pushing Zardari,s idea of endless dialogue as
a stalling technique, preventing any resolution
whatsoever.
Democracy was certainly the best revenge of
feudals and the business barons.

director of The Green Economic Initiative at

Saving their democracy
By: Najma Sadeque
Since the late 80s, successive governments
have been consistently violating citizens
human and constitutional rights under the
cover of the World Bank and IMF. In 1987, the
IMF slapped us on the wrists with a Structural
Adjustment Programme (SAP) put into effect
in1990. It was approved neither by an elected
government nor a military dictatorship but by
an interim government that had no authority to
take such a step, yet no subsequent
government ever questioned or tried to undo
its illegitimacy.
Democracy in Pakistan was stunted because
of feudalism and bureaucratic elitism, whether
upfront or through pulling the puppet strings of
the agricultural economy. Then, despite a
reasonable Constitution and elections, any
improvement in democratic effort was
effectively paralyzed.
Unless the steps and impacts of structural
adjustment are examined under democratic
criteria, the public wont understand how
democratic norms that encompass human,
social and economic rights, were first violated
by the World Bank and IMF.
The UN and democratic countries of Europe
remained silent. Every good that UN branches
like UNICEF, FAO, UNCTAD, WHO, UNHCR,
UNESCO, etc. tried to do was undermined by
powerful unilaterally-acting colleagues as well
as US military-backed might breathing down
every governments neck. The UN itself needs
more democratization so that it is less
vulnerable to infiltration and American
pressure.
Our own governments violated our rights by
accepting SAPs crippling conditions imposed
by global loan-sharks themselves borrowing
money to lend out to countries. Posing as
development banks, they use the same
dubious money-making methods that other
global commercial and investment banks use.
Yet governments continue irresponsible
borrowing for the unnecessary.
SAPs completely slashed tax-funded
allocations on health, education, physical
infrastructure and much else, diverting money
to debt-repayment. In turn it became a reason
for more borrowing to pay for what was once
entirely tax-funded. A long time ago, essential
food rationing enabled the urban poor to get
by. The SAP forced a withdrawal of subsidies,
credit and other support to small farmers and
peasants producing for domestic consumption.
Instead the SAP supported a minority of
landowners and industrialists producing for
export and industries. How is this democratic?
The masses only vaguely understand World
Bank/IMF causing usury-based debt but arent
explained the ulterior motives. SAPs were
designed to make our economy conducive to
foreign investment and the export of
commodities the industrialized west wants,
diverting more farmland to cash crops instead
of peoples food needs, opening us to imports
and foreign investment, needed or not. Some
call it re-colonization.
Later, having paved the way for WTO,
tax-funded public services, formerly forbidden
for sale, were put on the auction block.
Underpriced sale prices dont reflect true and
recurring value. Instead privatized state
enterprises serve only those who can afford
hiked prices, thereby immediately dismissing
80 percent of the population. Countries lose
their recurring income source to foreign control
and sovereignty. Foreign investors repatriate
all profits abroad, rather than reinvesting into
widened services as needed.
An entire new generation has passed and
made way for another while entrenched
political dynasties made a virtue of repression
in the name of representative government.
The democratic process in the National
Assembly turned out to be quite a spectacle. It
was also highly illuminating an education in
how the process is used and abused that no
amount of books and lectures could teach.
Since the reputations of most politicians have
long preceded them, viewers were not newly
disillusioned. It was just a shock to discover
things were worse than they thought.

Future Custodians
In a gun-culture where the lines between
burgers and bullets are blurred or a selfie with
a gun or camera is not uncommon, Dr. Rao
places a high degree of importance on
fine-tuning the young lives so that their career
and character rings tones of peace, prosperity
and harmony in future years. It is said that by
age 3, children from low-income homes hear
an average of 30 million fewer words than their
peers, putting them at a disadvantage before
they even start school. The US Government
Agencies estimate the cost of raising kids to
adulthood in 2013 was $245,340.00. With
incomes on a slippery slope imagine the
challenges parents are confronting in
grooming their kin. In households earning less
than $29K per annum 34% of kids have tried
pot and 61% have had sex by the ages of 16
according to Urban Institute quoted in TIME
magazine issue dated September 8-15, 2014.
Hence championing a Voluntary Drug Program
for High School Students', Dr. Rao opines that
this confidential procedure will alert parents,
teachers and doctors to course-correct any
aberrations that may be detrimental to a child's
mental and physical faculties. Dr. Rao explores
and finds solutions beyond a stethoscope. He
wants the kids to fly high.not just on a
skateboard.
As the twigs bend, so will a branch
grow..it is a pleasure to interact with Dr.
Rao's children. They are an embodiment of the
values prescribed by Dr. Rao.
Dr. Rao Here!
Probably there are not many of them but Dr.
Rao is one of the rare tribe members that
answers after-hours calls himself. No
answering service.he denies the
pleasures of relaxation and travel, just to be
within a radius of response for his patients. His
boundless energy seems to have exhaled
feelings of exhilaration and exhaustion
permanently.
Human-Being At Heart
A man of deep faith and a proponent of family
traditions, Dr. Rao, Chairman, Board of
Trustees is a source of Himalayan inspiration
for the development of Albany Hindu Temple
and the Hindu Cultural Center. Through the
ups and downs in the architecture and
construction of the religious and social
structure in the Capital District, Dr. Rao has
steered the community towards a Center that
stands for unity in diversity. He firmly believes
in the rightful balance of assimilation,
amalgamation and acculturation of the cultures
we were born in and now live in. The Hindu
Cultural Center (HCC) is an iconic stage for
Indians and non-Indians working to co-operate
and collaborate. It is not his resume that draws
admiration, but it is his" worthy of emulation"
humaneness that makes Dr. Rao a human
being plus. His depth of humility, length of
service and breadth of knowledge are such
contagious traits that even a chance encounter
with him leaves you mesmerized. Amongst
many honors bestowed upon him, he is
recipient of Hind Rattan Award (Jewel of India)
by the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Govind Rao
Local
By: M.A. Waheed
Recently, I happen to have a very pleasant
interaction with Mayor Ann Thane of
Amsterdam, NY. Just mentioned to her, that a
prominent member of the Indian community
resided in her area. With a beaming face she
spontaneously declared.Dr. Govind
Rao. He is our Saint here. Such is the esteem
and elevated status of this noble soul whose
energies, efforts and enthusiasm is constantly
and consistently invested in pursuits that
transform lives for the better. Hailing from a
poor family in Hyderabad, Dr. Rao was
blessed with the richness of sound values by
his teacher-Dad who instilled in him the
firmness of character as the foundation of a
successful human being. Landing in the US in
1964 from his land of birth to his country of
adoption, Dr. Rao has never forgotten that
rupees and dollars will fluctuate but the
"currency of service" is never devalued.
Raised in the era of Nizam of Hyderabad, Dr.
Rao studied in Urdu medium for his primary
school. Makhdoom's shayari of "ek chameli ke
mandve tale".the Chaderghat bridge, the
narrow lanes of Kachiguda, the long shadows
of Charminar, the haunts of Golconda fort, the
smooth-talking-charm of Hyderabadis,
chest-beating and meaningless boasts of
pahelwans, the Musi river and the tank-bund
connecting Hyderabad-Secunderabad are
fresh as the last Upstate Fall season in Dr.
Rao's memory bank. He therefore toggles
effortlessly between the US and India with his
social service projects.

and a 1000-bed pediatric ward. At the
Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad is another
venture that Dr. Rao helps with year in and
year out. This hospital has seen renovation of
a 600-bed ward where treatment is free.
Through "Neena Rao Charitable Corporation,
USA ", Dr. Rao has dedicated time and money
in the service of needy children. Dr. Rao is a
crusader without boundaries. Just like a
passionate Tendulkar hitting over the
boundary line, Dr. Rao's services have no

whose parents were serving in Iraq received

Meet senior Times Union journalist Azra Haqqie
Meet bridge maker in the local communities,
proud Pakistani, and senior journalist Azra
Haqqie.
Haqqie emigrated to America in 1980 and has
lived in the Albany area since. She began
working at the Times Union in 1991 but even
before then her contributions could be found in
building bridges between the Pakistani
community and the local upstate NY
community. One of her early works included
an article for the Times Union about the
importance of Ramadan, the ninth month of
the Islamic calendar. Each year, she spoke to
both her children's classes about Pakistan and
Ramadan.
In the late 80s, Haqqie worked to have Islamic
holidays recognized in the school calendar for
the North Colonie School District, the first local
school district to do so.
Shortly thereafter she started work at the
Times Union. One of her editors at the time
said that she had brought a new readership to
the newspaper. She has worked tirelessly on
her own accord to profile local Pakistanis
through various avenues available to her.
Haqqie especially encourages women to
participate equally in every aspect of life and
contributes to the Muslim Women's blog. In
1996, she wrote to Dear Abby asking to
consider wishing Muslims a happy Eid as she
wished Christians a Merry Christmas and the
Jews a Happy Hanukkah. Dear Abby has been
wishing her readers a happy Eid ul-Fitr and
happy Eid ul-Adha every year since then.

Roshni News Magazine celebrated its three-year anniversary
Dr. Mohammad Siddique Tai, Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Mr. Shams Tabrez and Dr. Govind Rao
Editor Roshni Afaq Khan with Mayor Sheehan
ALBANY, NY Roshni News Magazine
celebrated its 3-year anniversary dinner held
in Lazeez Restaurant in downtown Albany.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan was present on this
occasion and proclaimed August 30th as
Roshni Day in the City of Albany. Mayor
Sheehan addressed the audience present,
among those were prominent business
owners, religious and community leaders.
In her speech, Mayor Sheehan mentioned
Albany is one of the oldest cities in the history
of the United States, with an immigrants
population arriving hundreds of years back. In
fact, in1986, Albany celebrated its milestone
300 year anniversary. We are sitting here in
the Capital of the world. Upstate New York is
the most beautiful place to live in the entire
United States. It is wonderful to see a growing
community coming from South Asia and the
Middle East to this region.
Mayor Sheehan proceeded to applaud Roshni
News Magazine efforts and Editor Afaq Ahmed
Khans efforts, for working hard to make a
bridge between immigrants and local resident
community. She expressed happiness to see a
bi-lingual News Magazine, which is promoting
the South Asian culture as well as navigating
new comers. This magazine can help not only
the Capital Region but Mayor Sheehan
mentioned it is the 5th culture, as it is helping
not only to build a new community but keep
the bonds strong within the existing
communities.
In conclusion, Mayor Sheehan commented on
the addition of many new businesses from the
Pakistani community in particular on Central
Avenue in downtown Albany. In light of this,
Mayor Sheehan is considering a proposal to
rename Central Ave to Mohammad Ali Jinnah,
in honor of the founder of Pakistan.

Teachout in the state's Democratic Primary,

Unofficial returns late Tuesday gave Cuomo

Randy Credico came in third.
Teachout was largely unknown to voters, but
her presence on the ballot nonetheless served
as a liberal rebuke to the popular incumbent
and highlighted his sometimes uneasy
