WHAT IS A COMPUTER

A computer is an electronic device which is capable of

receiving information (data) in a particular form and
of performing a sequence of operations in accordance
with a predetermined but variable set of procedural
instructions (program) to produce a result in the form
of information or signals.
A computer is a general purpose device that can
be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or
logical operations automatically.

a) Analog computer is a computing device that works on
continuous range of values.
b) Digital computer operates on digital data such as
numbers. It uses binary number system in which there
are only two digits 0 and 1.
c) A hybrid computer combines the desirable features of
analog and digital computers. It is mostly used for
automatic operations of complicated physical processes
