RELIABILITY OF SCALE

Reliability refers to the extent to which a scale produces consistent result if repeated
measurement is made. It is done by determining the association between scores obtained from
different administrations of this field if association is high the skill is reliable.

There are three approaches to assess reliability:
1. Test retest reliability: Respondent are administrator, identical sets of scale items at two
different times under as nearly equivalent condition as possible.

2. Alternative form reliability: Two equivalent forms of the scale are constructed and then the
same respondent are measurement at two different time.

3. Internal consistency reliability: It is used to assess the reliability of submitted scale where
several items are summed to form total score. There are two ways to check it.

1. Split half reliability: High correlation between two half indicates high internal consistency.
2. coefficient alpha: = 0 to 0.6 indicates unsatisfactory
=0.6 to 1 indicates satisfactory reliability.
