Four filipinos recognized abroad
In 1994, Eduardo Olague, Jr. earned the highest grades ever recorded at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). MIT is one of the best schools in the
United States and this Filipino turned out to be its brightest student yet.
Manny Yllana was chosen editor in chief of the Fordham University Year Book by
the students of this university in New York City. He was likewise selected by the
faculty to serve as student manager of the Fordham radio station. And English was not
even his first language!
Joel Tesoro graduated summa cum laude with a degree in journalism from Yale
University. He was chosen by the faculty as the graduating student who best
exemplified the schools ideals.
Dr. George Garcia was voted by 200 American doctors as the heart surgeon in whom
they had the most confidence. Dr. Garcia earned his degree in medicine from the
University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
