Definitions of Instructional Supervision

Is a collegial relationship between teachers and supervisors. Supervision as the province of teachers as
well as supervisors. It focuses on teacher growth, facilitates teacher collaboration, and enhances
Teacher ongoing reflective inquiry.

Instructional supervision is defined as research and analysis of the total teaching-learning environment
and its many functions by many individuals (Marks, Stoops & King-Stoops, 1971, p. 13).

Instructional supervision is a process of facilitating the professional growth of a teacher, primarily by
giving the teacher feedback about classroom interactions and helping the teacher to make use of that
feedback in order to make teaching more effective (Glatthern, 1984, p. 2).

Instructional supervision-is a proactive, ongoing set of processes and procedures with the purpose of
improving classroom instruction (Zepeda, 2007).
