Liberhan Commission: Improve you GK

Liberhan Commission, headed by and named after the retired judge of Supreme Court M S Liberhan was constituted
on December 16, 1992 to investigate events leading to demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.

The unfortunate event took place on December 6, 1992 followed by the riots in Ayodhya. Though the initial tenure for
the report was only three months, the report was only submitted to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on 30
June 2009, after 16 years.

Report Still Not Tabled?

The report got leaked to the media in November 2009. Since it blames top BJP leaders of involvement in the
demolition, the report could not be tabled in the parliament, which was adjourned for the day. The Government assured
to table the report with an ATR (Action Taken Report) during the winter session of the Parliament, maximum by 30
December 2009.
