For assignment one I selected mobile technology, because I believe it is a broad topic in todays society. The article that caught my attention the most is called Business: Dont over Look Basic Flip Phone from the website zdnet.com. The article talks about how businesses dont pay any attention to flip phones no more since they released all these embellished smart phones. James Kendrick believes that these impressive smart phones are wonderful tools for employees, but feels that it is just too much for businesses to handle. The same thing you can do with a smart phone you can do with a flip phone but with little features. For example, you can talk and text with a smart phone and a flip flop phone. But with the flip phones there are advantages and disadvantages meaning the flip phones are inexpensive, they dont do data which means they dont require a data plan and they have long battery life which is perfect. Kendrick believes that these simple phones are very economical for most companies especially for workers whose duties revolve around phones calls and text messages and dont need a smart phone just because corporate world is obsessed with smart phones, which I believe they are just spending too much money on. http://www.zdnet.com/businesses-dont- overlook-basic-flip-phones-7000033844/ My next article is called Todays Tech: A Transactional, Virtual Attorney And Her Mobile Devices which briefly talks about a lady name Lisa Epperly, a lawyer, who relies heavily on mobile tools as part of her law firms technology arsenal. When comparing this article with my first one it seems that smart phones do come in handy on Epperly case. She is an on the go person who needs her mobile device everywhere she goes and she can access her case information as well. But without her smart phone she wouldnt be able to get half of her work done in a timely manner. So for Epperly a flip phone would not be much a good idea for her Tiera Stepney September 21, 2014 CSIT 101 Professor Shelley Pumphrey

type of job. also, by her being on the road for hours, the law today is no texting and talking while driving so she needs that smart phone that has voice detect and can read to her so if someone shoots her a text message she can reply and let the phone do the typing and sending it off for her. http://abovethelaw.com/2014/09/todays-tech-a-transactional-virtual-attorney- and-her-mobile-devices/ My third article is called Are Smart Phones Making Our Working Lives More Stressful? And it briefly talks about how companies hand out smart phones to their workers stating the agreement that they are on call at any time and any place. Arnold Bakker, a professor, showed that these heavy smart phone uses caused more work-home interference; work encroached badly on home life. This basically means that smart phones are taking over people and interfering with their personal life, especially if youre smart phone was giving to you through the company you work for. By comparing this with my first article it seems to me that flip phones are not a good thing to rely on now days. It seems that you need more than incoming calls and texts messages you need the internet to connect with your workers at the job and more. I also believe that this article was the best search engine because it defiantly goes in depth about how mobile technology is taking over peoples lives in todays world. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/sep/18/smartphones-making-working-lives- more-stressful

My two scholarly journals from the CCBC library databases I just looked under Environment Complete and typed in mobile technology. It was very helpful it brought up a lot of different scholarly journals on mobile technology. 1. MSpray: A mobile phone technology to improve malaria control efforts and monitor human exposure to malaria control pesticides in Limpopo, South Africa 2. Evaluation of low-cost consumer-level mobile phone technology for measuring international roughness index (IRI) values.
Comparing my internet article and my scholarly journal I chose Business: Dont Over Look Basic Flip Phone and MSpray: A mobile phone technology to improve malaria control efforts and monitor human exposure to malaria control pesticides in Limpopo, South Africa they both talk about how old mobile technology is not being used today and how it has affected them or their country. Also, they both talk about how mobile technology is important today and how they are being used in varies of ways. They are easy to use and excess, both of the authors are qualified to write about this topic, and their timeliness is 2014. For my work cited page I used MLA.
