Oracle Concepts - finding table and

index tablespace locations

Oracle Tips by Burleson Consulting

Table and tablespace location

Finding out who owns a table and what tablespace it is in is a pretty common need of the
DBA. In this query, we use the dba_tables view to find the owner and tablespace name of
the EMP table.
SQL> select owner, table_name, tablespace_name from dba_tables
where table_name='EMP';

OWNER
TABLE_NAME
TABLESPACE_NAME
-------------------- -------------------- --------------------------------------SCOTT
EMP
USERS
POLL
EMP
USERS
As we can see from this query, we have two tables called EMP, owned by two different
users (Scott and Poll). Both tables are contained in the USERS tablespace.
A good exercise for you might be to try to join this query with a view like DBA_EXTENTS
and figure out just how big these tables are allocated.

Increase the size of table (its mean TableSpace) in ORACLE

Manually Resizing a Datafile

Using BRTOOLS Extend TableSpace IN SAP

Check the table space before extend Using SAP GUI

Use TCODE DB02 and check the database size. [The Total size is 293.97 GB]

Use tcode DB02 select the tablespace which is intend to extend.

Example: PSAPSR3

It shows the last datafile as the sr3.data18.

Now login to SQL as <oraSID>
Erppi1# su orapi1
erppi1:orapi1 54>
erppi1:orapi1 53> sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL>
SQL> select file_name from dba_data_files;
Then it will display all the datafiles till the last.
Example: /oracle/PI1/sapdata4/sr3_18/sr3.data18

Extend TableSpace on oracle, login in to the console as <orasid> user

Now log in to the OS with a user who has authorize for Oracle DBA and then run the
command BRTOOLS.
Erppi1# su orapi1
erppi1:orapi1 54>
erppi1:orapi1 54> brtools
