The Digitel Employees Union (DEU), led by Alan Licardo, fights to stop the continuous defiance

of PLDT/Digitel Management to the rule of law.

PLDT should absorb Digitel employees and start Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
negotiations, the DEU said.
DEU has been fighting for the 88 remaining regular employees of Digitel, who were said to be
removed from the company by the management even after the Supreme Court decided with finality and in
favour with DEU. It was then followed by the signage and issuance of Writ-of-Execution last March 19,
2013, by the Honourable and Respectable Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary,
Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.
Union representatives have been staging protests in front of PLDTs Makati Avenue
headquarters since April 10 to oppose PLDTs decision to remove around 500 Digitel employees.
We are gathered today together with the Digitel employees not only to show solidarity with
them and their just struggles, but also to rally around and express our full condemnation of the
prevailing system and practice in our country that allowed labor rights to be trampled upon in the name
of profits and benefits for the rich and powerful. Licardo said.
DEU is mainly against the contractualization issued by the Digitel Management. They said it is
being unfair for the old regular employees who have been living their lives with the company. When
asked if they see any motives from Manny V. Pangilinan, new owner of Digitel, on why he insists a
contractual basis, Jesse Furaque, one of the hunger strikers said, By contractualization hell be able to
save lots of money and then earn lots! Why? Because contractual workers dont get benefits, insurances
and that is those of regular workers.
DEU said they will not stop until Digitel-PLDT Management does what the Supreme Court
decided upon.
