I chose to focus my observation and assessment on the students I was able to work with more individually. I was able to watch these four much more than the rest of the students. The lesson focused on the proper movements related to throwing objects with both the underhand and overhand throw. Students were able to practice these skills using a variety of different activities. The first activity they did was a tag game which required them to do certain exercises if tagged. These included jumping jacks, one leg hops, and two feet jumps. The second activity was a clean your room activity which required the students to practice their throws they had learned earlier in the week and put them to use. The students did well for the most part and I was able to watch and look for certain cues. The rubric correlates directly to this activity because I was able to see the students run using proper arm movements, and also look for the proper use of cues while throwing the equipment to the other side of the gym. After the clean your room activity, the students were able to participate in an angry bird activity. This activity allowed the students to perform different throws, both overhand and underhand. I was able to watch these four students in depth and watch for certain skills being performed. The students did well, but I had to remind them to use proper technique at times, which helped them better practice the skills. The cues I was looking for when assessing were pumps arms while running, flick of the wrist when releasing the throw, arm rotates like a windmill, follows through and points towards target, and steps forward with the opposite foot while in throwing motion. I think the lesson went well, and I was glad the students enjoyed it as well.
