Educational Technology Philosophy

Technology is a huge part of our culture and society. As I have grown in my thoughts
towards education, I have grown in my thoughts to include technology in the classroom in order
to enhance myself a person, an educator, and professional. By separating the three I have the
ability to use technology in all aspects of life for the greater good of advancing myself and the
students that will walk through my classroom every year. My overall goal as an educator is to
provide students the opportunity to be engaged in learning using different technology mediums.
My overall goal as a professional is to stay updated on technology to increase its use in and
outside the classroom.
In the classroom, I will integrate technology as a means of engaging, motivating, and
reiterating major concepts. I will use technology and integrate into each core subject as a way to
get students actively involved in learning. Currently as a kindergarten teacher, I use technology
through computer programs, websites, and music. My students will benefit from technology as a
means of enhancing their learning opportunities. Technology can also be transferred from school
to home to aid students away from school. Students will remain engaged when they see the
usefulness and the rewards from using technology on a daily basis. I can also use technology as a
way to build a strong educational environment between student, parents, and myself. Technology
will be used to build a safe environment where students can learn from each other and make
mistakes and learn from those mistakes without being ridiculed.
By including work from different theories such as cognitive development, constructivism,
and Montessori, I can see them in ways to mix each different theory into a solid classroom built
around technology. Each theory has its use and integrating the differences are beneficial to using

technology in the classroom. I can use technology to raise students educational goals and
advance their skills through visual cues, musical cues, and other avenues that will allow students
to be critical thinkers in all subject areas. Technology has a place in all content area where
students can self-monitor themselves and work on individual skills that will maintain the value of
their education. By students being hands on with technology they will begin to understand
technology through vocabulary and physical manipulation.
In the world of education I value the use of technology. Technology encompasses many
different things from simple things such as the radio player for the listening station to more
advanced objects like the computers or smartboards that are used in the Daily 5 stations. I also
see technology in ways that students are able to create objects in relation to lessons being taught.
I think being a true professional I will continue to provide technological opportunities to each
child I teach. As a current kindergarten teacher the opportunities for technology are forever
endless as we continue to grow in technology.
