Class Analysis and
Behaviour Management Overview Term 4:
5M 2014 Term 4 consists of 12 boys and 18 girls. The students ages range
from 10 years to 11 years. Students come from a variety of backgrounds
and socio-economic statuses. Students have varying capabilities in literacy
and maths. Maths is catered for as they are grouped according to ability
from across Stage 3. In literacy I have divided students into six ability
based spelling groups and six ability based reading. There has been some
movement in these groups based on end of Term 3 results. Students will
have final end of year assessments to ascertain improvement in all areas
from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. 11 students in the
class are on Individual Learning Plans and 4 students are on a Personalised
Learning Plan.

During Term 4 in 5M, we will re-establish class rules and consequences and
reaffirm school rules. I will re-outline my expectations with the class and
discuss any concerns or issues students may have.

Our class rules are:
1. One person speaks at a time
2. Ask the teacher before leaving the room
3. Let others learn
4. Keep hands, feet and mouths to ourselves
5. Respect all members of the class and all visitors

The consequences for breaking these rules are:
1. 1
st
warning =name on board
2. 2
nd
warning =10 mins detention at either lunch or recess
3. 3
rd
warning =Removed from class to buddy classroom
4. 4
th
warning =sent to Mr Morris (Stage 3 supervisor)

From Term 3 I have identified students who have behaviour problems:

1. Shaelie J ackson Campbell (violent, lies, steals)
2. Wade Picton (lies, emotional issues)
3. Riley Duwakin (emotional/social issues)
4. J ayden Clancey (easily distracted when taught by other teachers)
5. Eden Moore (social/welfare issues)
6. Braden Fennell (ADHD, Tourettes, academic levels)

Personal Teaching Philosophy
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates.
The great teacher inspires.
(William Arthur Ward)

I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and
special to the world. Each child needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in
which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Helping
children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals is one of
the most important roles of a teacher. Assisting these children in discovering who
they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas is
another important role. It is my desire as a teacher to help students meet their
fullest potential in all these areas.
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in
abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as a teacher is to give children the
necessary tools they need to become a positive member of society. To accomplish
this, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and
successful. I will endeavour to make all learning relevant to their everyday life. I will
also endeavour to incorporate interesting and stimulating units, projects, group work,
individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners in
their education.
I will provide a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each child can
achieve and grow. I will allow children to become responsible members of our
classroom community by using strategies such as class meetings, positive discipline, as
well as the setting of high standards. I will always lead by example as a positive role
model.
As a professional, I feel that it is important to seek professional help from
other colleagues and development, so that I can keep up to date with the ever
changing education world, and so that I can step into the classroom and give my
students the best opportunity to learn.
Finally, I want to be a teacher who is positive and fun, but who most importantly
believes in her students and that the students at the end of the year, even if they
have only learnt a little, have felt happy and safe, which I think is the most important
lesson of all.
