Reading/Theme/Handwriting
* The Scholastic News we read this week all
about Fire Prevention Week beginning
Sunday
* The book On The Town and learning about
my place on a map by reading the book Me
On The Map
* How I would fnd my place starting with
planet Earth and ending with me
* Working on the uppercase letters F, E, D,
P, R, B, N and M
Math
* The Two- Fisted Penny Grab activity and fnding
pairs of numbers that add up to 10 (1 and 9, 2 and
8, 3 and 7 etc.)
* Doing my frst math box pages and how these are for
practicing the math skills I am learning in class
* Telling time to the hour- why is telling time
important, what do we call the two hands on the
clock (small hour hand and long, strong minute
hand)
* The penny- who is on the head and tails side of the
coin, what is it made of, and how do I write its value
two different ways
Phonics and Spelling
* The hunks and chunks I have learned:
sh, ch, th, ing
* Spelling some words for you with those
hunks and chunks in them
* Playing Word Wall games- Magical Word
and BINGO- what are they and how do you
play
* Nouns- can I remember the chant? Person,
Place, Animal, Thing (say this 3 times
while clapping) Something you can touch, a
NOUN!
* Proper Nouns- what is the difference?
* A word that has ing in its root word
(string), when ing is a suffx (helping),
and when it is both (singing)
* Suffxes- You take a root word (fsh). You
put the suffx at the end. That makes
fshing instead of fsh.
* The Haunted Phonics Dance and ask me
to say the Skeleton poem for you for letter

Other
* Centers- what are they and what activities
have you been doing in them (Magnet
letters, Poetry, Make 10, Word Chains,
Listening Center, etc)
* Raz Kids in the Computer Lab- what is it,
what do I do on it and can I do it at
home?!
* Alexandras Star of the Week (last week)
and Annies Star of the Week (this week)
and the letter I wrote to each of them (it
is included- help me to see what I did well
and what I need to work on!)
