Coach Company This could be a potential work placement because you could work with a coach company
and take people on excursions e.g. Bakers Dolphin.

would be dealing with the public and this would increase the likeliness of you working your way through
different jobs in the airline industry such as cabin crew.
Resort representative This could be a potential work placement because it could take you all around the
world and so you would be working with many different people and this would increase your tolerance and
understanding of others.
Cruise line / ferry company This could be a potential work placement because you could start off by getting
an understanding of work life in this field and then gradually move up to superior placements such as the

My first personal objective is to construct new ideas. This will aid me because it will enable me to work more
independently rather than relying on others for help.
My second personal objective is to try to work more independently because this will help me to be more
confident and integrate me into being an independent adult.
My last personal objective is to try and keep distractions to a minimal so I can focus better. This will help me
because I will be able to reach my full potential with little distractions.

My career objective is to work in the travel industry and make my way up the chain so I can secure a good and
fulfilling job as cabin crew.

I am a 16 year old student, currently studying at Weston College, enrolled in
the Level Three Travel and Tourism course.
I have experience in waitressing, admin, reception work and cleaning. Through these skills I
have learnt how to deal with complaints and general customer service and needs. During
my work experience, I handled and processed the memberships of various customers that
were/are linked to the gym where I worked (Sweat F.A.). This form of responsibility
improved my confidence and enabled me to gain knowledge in admin and processing
paperwork. I also was held responsible for the catering of particular members and insured

I am an extremely hardworking student who shows great resilience. I am punctual and well-presented and
willing to try my best in everything. I have had experience in working with people in close proximity so I am

WORK EXPERIENCE

For my work experience I went to Sweat F.A. I worked in close vicinity to customers so I know how to work
with them with courtesy and respect. I developed my skills in communication and stayed focus at any task at
hand.
I had a job over the summer holidays at Fellas crazy golf. This job involved having the responsibility of handing
out the golf equipment to customers and handling the money.
I also worked at Gurkha Bay Views Restaurant as a waitress. I had to prepare the poppadoms and chutney
dishes and serve them to the customers, take the food and soft drinks out to the customers and take care of
other responsibilities such as clearing the tables and setting them back up again ready for customers.

During the summer holidays I volunteered for working with children with disabilities of all ages. Throughout

had to administer such things as medication, food and hygiene.




HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

I enjoy playing sports, mainly hockey and rounders. On a Thursday I train with Winscombes Ladies' Hockey
Club and then on the following Saturday I play for them.
I also enjoy reading and I am predominantly interested in reading biographies, science fictions and mysteries.
I enjoy listening to music and so I am currently teaching myself to play acoustic guitar.

provide 100% financial protection as members of The Travel Trust Association. As an independent travel agency
providing all forms of leisure and corporate travel, they can deliver where others cannot by meeting their
clients needs through their dynamic range of products.

Thomas William Travel is a privately owned travel agent run by Simon Dinham. The business is located within
Weston-Super-Mares college, Weston College where he takes on students every year from the Travel and
Tourism study programme.
The company is private. I know this because when I had my induction day with Simon, he explained that the
company relies on profit to keep it running and this is a key feature of a private company.

However there are currently 26 members of staff working for this business.
The business has only one location at the moment which is on the fourth floor of Weston College.

Simon Dinham, the owner, is going to be responsible for marketing because it is his company and so he will be
able to market the business how he likes however his sales agents will help him and sometimes if he is
unavailable to do the job himself due to being busy with another job, his sales agents will take over the job for
him for a short period of time.
Thomas William Travel promote themselves on their Facebook page and Twitter page. Another way they could
promote themselves is through advertisements on buses or television.
The products and services they offer includes: travel insurance, airport transfers, private airport transfers,
foreign currency, airport parking, excursions, car hire and attraction tickets.
Thomas William Travel is located on the fourth floor of Weston College and so is less accessible to those
whom are less able. Even though lifts are to avail, in the event of a fire, customers who need to use the lift to
leave the building will not be able to evacuate because the lifts will be out of order due to the fire.
Another health and safety issue in the organisation is that the Travel Shop is located in a small room and so
the limited space gives it limited accessibility in terms of being able to have prams and wheelchairs in and
around the room safely.

The roles and responsibilities of Simon at Thomas William Travel are to turn up on time, to act professional, to
be informative and to be knowledgeable. His other roles could include: setting an exemplar manner which
represents the business, teach and assist the travel agents and present an approachable manner so that his
employees feel able to talk to him about any issues they may have.
A strength of Thomas William Travel is that the amount of profit being brought in at the moment is relatively
high for a business of the size it is. With it being mainly web based this is now a popular way of booking
holidays and so there is going to be a lot of interest.
A weakness of Thomas William Travel is that if the company fails to make profit over a period of time they are
likely to cease trading.
Another weakness would be that it is located on the fourth floor of Weston College which makes it less
accessible and this may prevent people from using this company.

The threats to Thomas William Travel are other travel agents such as Thomson and Thomas Cook. This is
because the other travel agents are bigger and better known throughout the Travel and Tourism industry and
so this means they will receive more business due to their bigger advertisement throughout the high street and
elsewhere. The other travel agents are also based on the high street whereas Thomas William is not and this is
a threat because it means Thomas William will not be as known due to its location.
An opportunity for Thomas William Travel is to promote the company on the high street. This would be an
opportunity to receive more popularity and an increase of profit due to the recognition of the company.
Another opportunity to Thomas William Travel would be creating advertisements and marketing the business
more widely and this will increase the business and profit.
Popular travel agents such as Thomson and Thomas cook will be competition for Thomas William Travel
because they are well-known and already receive high amounts of business whereas Thomas William Travel is a
new travel agent which is less commonly used in comparison to other travel agents.
