Researching and Reporting Disaster Task Sheet

You will be collecting information about a type of disaster that affects


Australia. Once you have decided on your disaster, you will use this task
sheet to gather the necessary information for your report.

Firstly, you will research this disaster on the Internet and compile a resource
list. You will then write a rough and final copy of your report including a
glossary of important vocabulary. Finally, you will use this information to
produce your report complete with pictures, maps and diagrams that go along
with your report. This report will then be shown to the class and, with your
permission could possibly featured on our think45.weebly page.

Who is your target audience:




For researching, it is important to think about key words to use when searching on
the internet. You will need to think about dates, names, cities, and descriptive or
action words such as; Australia, cyclones, fires, etc. You will also need to include at
least 5 images about your disaster. These should include various types of pictures
such as, maps, labeled diagrams, charts and more. Write the key words you will use
to research your information and pictures here:






While you are researching, you will come across important, key words that you can
use in your glossary. Compile a list of at least six words here as you are researching
and look up their meanings later for use in your glossary.

need to be limited to just this information. In addition, some of these
questions might not apply to your disaster but you might find and include other
important details. This may also provide a structure for the sequence of your
report or you may choose to have the information if a different order.
Remember, it is important that you report flows, makes sense and provides
complete and accurate information to your audience.
