Wage compression:

When determining what your organization will pay for wages and salaries, it is important to understand
the economic conditions of the region in which you function, the volume of potential employees and the
legislative requirements in place. When determining what to pay, first consideration is placement of the
role organizationally which can be determined through job evaluation/classification. The second
consideration is the job relevant skills and experience the applicant possesses which may impact their
placement in the salary range upon hire. By 2020, Unilever will drive fairness by further building human
rights across their operations and advancing human rights in their extended supply chain, developing a
continuous improvement roadmap and promoting best practice. They will create a framework for fair
compensation, and help employees take action to improve their health (physical and mental), nutrition
and well-being.

Taking long view:
This technique states that all other competitive advantage of an organization can be copied easily in the
near future but if companies concentrates on their human resource and make them as their competitive
advantage and it would not be able to copy those resource until they take those employees. unilever truly
believes in this idea and concentrate more on their employees. They follow the international labor law and
maintain fairness in their organization. They Respect, Dignity & Fair Treatment Code Policy sets out their
commitment to human and labor rights and specifically to treat their employees with dignity, integrity and
fairness. The Board of Unilever is responsible for ensuring adherence to these commitments and their
senior management has responsibility for overseeing their implementation and ensuring that any
breaches of their Code of Business Principles are investigated. They expect and encourage employees to
bring any breach across all areas of their Code to our attention
