Introduction to Photoshop continues: Teacher led tutorials- -Students will learn how to create text in Photoshop -Students will understand the concept of layers -Students will learn how to open an image in Photoshop Text creation in Photoshop: -Students will learn how to use text with paths - Warping text -Using shapes to run text along them Introduction to Task 1 (The Monogram): -Students will work in groups to deconstruct different monograms and come up with business names and themes that relate to the initials and their style represented -Students will be introduced to the first task, The Monogram design
Task 1: The Monogram design- Students are required to design their own monogram (on Photoshop), using their own initials and by manipulating and joining them seeing how they can interconnect and work together. This will test their knowledge of how to use elements of Photoshop CS4. 4 Photoshop elements: -Students will learn the purpose of rasterizing text and turning it into a graphic. This will allow them to manipulate text by cutting, cropping and warping it further. -Students must also finish their monogram thumbnail sketches this lesson. Backgrounds for monograms: -Students will learn how the background of their monogram design can help the monogram, itself, stand out more. -Students will learn more about layers also Independent student work: -Students will work independently on their monogram design, noting when they face any challenges and how they overcame them. Task 1: Monogram Design due today Finishing Task 1 and Introduction to Task 2 (Poster Design): -Students will spend the first half of the lesson finishing their monogram designs. -Students will be introduced to the second task by undergoing a group work activity that allows them to look at different design elements and principles (handout will be given) in a range of different gaming and movie posters. Task 2: The Poster design- Students are required to design a poster for the school play (The Wizard of Oz). It must the 4 main characters (in silhouette), the forest, the emerald city, the wicked witch (optional) and it must have an overall well-considered composition and good use of colours. 5 Teacher directed Photoshop tutorials and Independent work on poster design: -Show students how to create a silhouette on Photoshop and how to apply new layers. -Students will then use the skills they have learnt so far on Photoshop to work independently on their poster designs. Teacher directed Photoshop tutorials and Independent work on poster design: -Show students how to cut text from the background layer. -Students will then use the skills they have learnt so far on Photoshop to work independently on their poster designs. Independent work on poster design: -Students will work independently producing their posters on Photoshop; with teacher assistance offered to those they need it. -Students are instructed to place names on existing Monogram designs and submit into the Submitted work folder on the Shared drive. Introduction of Homework Task and independent work on poster design task: -Students will be introduced to their Homework Task which requires them to analyse a movie poster according to the design elements and principles sheet they received earlier. Homework Task: Students are required to analyse a movie poster design using the design elements and principles handout and the analysis task sheet to assist them. The purpose of this task is to gain an understanding that a design is created with many elements in mind. 6 Design analysis game and independent work: -Students will be involved in a design analysis game and then asked to analyse a movie poster to help reiterate
Independent work: -Finishing poster design and back up work. Independent work: -Finishing poster design and back up work. Task 2: Poster Design due today Homework Task due today
-Last day for students finish and hand up ALL work for marking.
