2. Backup
3. Data Recovery Planning (DRP)
4. Application tuning
5. Fail over
Daily DBA procedures:
1. Verify that all instance are up
2. Checking alert logs
3. Checking network
4. Verify backups
5. Verify archiving to tape
6. Verify resources (free space, rollback segments, etc)
7. Spend one hour reading manuals
Weekly DBA procedures:
1. Look for objects that break rules (e.g. next_extent)
2. Check unique primary key for all tables
3. Check that all indexes are in index tablespace
4. Identical schemas between environments
5. Check security policy
6. Check Net8 log for errors
7. Archive all alert logs to history
Monthly DBA procedures:
1. Review changes in segment growth
2. Review common Oracle tuning points (e.g. cache hit ratio, latch
contention, etc)
3. Review database file activity
4. Review fragmentation
5. Compare performance trends
6. Perform tuning and maintenance
