Notes from Observation:
Professional setting
Speak opinions
Focus on the strengths of each individual
Respectful listeners
A select few speak up more than others
Some are playing on their laptops and others are paying attention
Pretty much everyone is in a good mood
Thinking about self awareness
Because the students are talking about themselves they are paying more
attention

Analyzes how people act, talk, think
-While in the class everyone seems to take on a newer, more professional,
way of speaking to one another.
-Even if one person sees another person every single day, when they enter the
classroom they act as if they have not seen the person in days.
- Students begin the class with several compliments towards one another
-The main focus of the class is to understand the strengths in others, and
seeing them in a positive way. The class is based on focusing on each
students strengths and turning them into positive attributes by practicing and
understanding them.
-Each student is very accepting because of this class. We have learned so
much about one another that it is difficult to judge negatively because you
know that the annoying things stem from the positive strengths and talents
in the student.
-Students, during class, are very open and honest with their struggles and
inner feelings

Tries to understand actions/attitudes that seem to pervade the
community
- The attitudes seem to be positive, but out of class is usually where you find
out the real truths about the students

Tries to discover overt and hidden conflicts that pull the community
apart
-Between the professors assistant graduate students, and some of the
students, there is some conflict. It was discussed in last class and there was
some miscommunication with the emails between the two.
-Everyone s together so often that there are ill feelings between some of the
group members, but it is usually pretty obvious when that is going on because
the members have begun distancing themselves from the members that they
have recently been close with.

Investigates group motives
-The group tries to stay connected with some catching up and socializing
before class begins.
-The group has many group projects and group presentations, but typically
each student is concerned about their own grade
