A couple of months ago, a Corpus Christis King High School teacher and coach was accused to

having sex back in May, with a 17 year old student after the student had sent out the video to 11 other
students. Tanya Ramirez was in court yesterday, October 23, 2014, pleading not guilty to the second
degree felony. The smoking gun, if you will, is the tattoo on the back of Ramirez has the same tattoo
and location as the woman in the video. Ramirezs attorney, Christopher Gale suspects the act of leaking
the video a crime in itself, however, it is against the law to record if it is done without the other
persons consent and with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of another person as long as the
person was not in a bathroom or dressing room. The district attorney, Mark Skurka, said, The state
does not plan to pursue a case against the student
In my opinion, both the student and the teacher should be held accountable if this accusation is
true. As most seventeen year old boys only have one thing on their minds, I am pretty sure the student
was not resisting of actions that were to come with the female teacher. At the age of seventeen, a
female or male, would know right from wrong and having sexual relations with your high school teacher,
recording the act, and sending it to you friends, is beyond the line of wrong. I understand the sex was
consensual to both the teacher and the student: which allows the case of rape to be exiled. However, I
believe a student should never feel as if sexual relations with any teacher, male or female, are allowed.
The teacher should make sure the relationship between them and the students, known to be strictly on
the teacher-to-student basis.
The students action upon this incident was highly disgusting. If the situation was between two
teenagers and one were to leak a video without the other persons consent, I strongly believe charges
would be filed and the defendant would be found guilty regarding those charges. This whole incident
angers me not only in the view of a student, but would also anger me in the view of a parent. For a
parent to trust unknown adults with their child five days a week, for eight hours a day, into a classroom
where conversations and lessons are unknown to them [the parent], shows the trust the parent has in
the school district to hire teachers who are responsible and knowledgeable of not only the subject at
hand but also the LAW!
This isnt the first time sexual relations between a student and teacher has been brought to the
public eye. These kinds of incidents happen all the time, across the United States and abroad. Since this
reoccurring situation has not embedded the consequences of the already convicted teachers into the
attempting teachers, there should be a rule in all of the school districts, in all the states of America,
regarding sexual violations with underage students as well as students in general. Companies have
sexual harassment between the boss and the person working under them so why cant school districts
have the same? If there is an already existing rule, all students (especially high school students), should
be aware of the consequences if to be a part of sexual relations with a teacher and vise versa.
