From the CEO, Simanjuntak Naloanro
1. Our company activities here is a kind of social entrepreneur. Our vision is to develop our community and boost their life out of
poverty line. We increase our farmers income 80% and not all company do the same in reality. Some of them claim that but in reality
they offer their farmers cheaper. Some of them make it only in bad season and decrease the price in a good harvest season. We make it
for a long year run. Our term of payment also help them in producing the sugar. We usually give some money in front to our farmers
groups to produce the sugar. Many company here pay their farmers even a weeks after their farmers deliver the sugar with cheaper price.
Because of this, we can be very strict in quality. We will reject the product from our farmers if the quality below our agreement.
2. Our quality is much better. This because we controlling the production in detail. We develop farmers group among our farmers. Our
field officer regularly monitoring the process. We also teach them how to save their income. Our statement for them is saving first then
shopping later. Its because here farmers become consumptive as well. One of the farmers groups have increase their member saving
tens of million rupiah within a year and they can use the money when they need, say if one of the member need money for their children
education, then they dont have to go to loan shark anymore. Farmer groups have a regular meeting and they always discuss how to
maintain the quality and improve their facility.
3. Our Company help some facility for the farmers. We fund some facility at our farmers. We do this to improve them. For example,
when they need a new stove, we help them to get a kind of stove that can reduce energy consumption. We also connect them to the local
government program. Last year local government give one of our farmers group 5800 young coconut trees for regeneration.
4. Our long-term strategy for our community is to develop an integrated organic farmland. We are not trader here. We make sure that
we will growth with our farmers for a very long time and ensure our customer to get a good quality for a very long term as well. As you
know we now start with organic coconut sugar and on progress in developing organic coconut syrup. Each of our farmers here generally
have some 500 meter to 1 hectare. My long-term strategy is to work with them so they can produce 5 kinds of organic product or as
many as they could such organic ginger, turmeric, cocoa, etc. If we can buy say 5 kinds of organic product from our farmers with a
premium price, the we for sure can release them from poverty.
5. Social responsibility program. We also involving in some small activities in our community. We help our community some material
when they need to build or re-build some small public facility like sub-village road. We also support one of orphan house in our
community. Well, its not a lot yet, but we do base our capacity.
