Some of the lower income patients
cannot afford treatment and seek
hospice services after their initial
diagnosis; whereas, some of the
patients who have insurance and/or
are wealthy, continue to seek
treatment until the final stage of life
and then seek hospice services



5.2 ADVOCATE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS AND SOCIAL
AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE
Advocate for and refer patients to
other agencies and resources who
may assist with their needs

5.3 ENGAGE IN PRACTICES THAT ADVANCE
SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE
Insure that patients are treated with
dignity and respect regardless of their
economic or social standing
Refer patients to various agencies for
services they may need
