Evaluation Letter
Dear Miss Jackie,
I have to say that this essay was a little difficult for me. I had trouble starting; I didnt
quite know where I wanted to go with it. I definitely had some major writers block in the
beginning. I jotted down some ideas on a document but I did not make use of them. I sat there
flustered and decide to watch the ad one final time. This time I focused on how the ad made me
feel and the underlining message it was sending. It came to me all at once and I was finally able
to realize what I wanted to write about.
My first draft was definitely rough. I wasnt confident in my work and still had trouble
choosing my exact direction. After suggestions from my teacher and some more thought and
more research I finally was able to sit down and fully complete my essay. My weakness was
tying in the appeals. I had trouble understanding them and how they played into my
advertisement. My strength was analyzing the add. I feel like explained my thesis well and found
some solid information to back up my claims.
For assignment requirements I would give myself a 7 because I dont meet the word
count requirement but I do have my own creative writing and thoroughly follow MLA format. In
content I would give myself a 50. I describe the ad with every detail and my analysis is
thoughtful and specific. In organization I would give my paper a 24. My into is solid and the
following paragraphs support my thesis. My transition sentences are not adequate and I dont
know if my conclusion is enough. In mechanics I would give myself a 10, because I have proof
read it a hundred times already and Im certain I have no mistakes.
