Letter From the Police Chief to Nikolai
Dear Nikolai,
Since the incident you witnessed concerning the old man and the tourists who taped the
shooting, the police have been conducting an investigation into what actually happened. Despite
your testimony that you have never heard the mute speak, he has since spoken to us about the
event. This has led us to reconsider the rest of what you and your party have said. I am writing to
you to let you know that we will be requiring that you return to the station for further questioning
in a short time. We will also require you to translate the rest of the tourists testimonies again. If
you do this for us without monetary compensation, we will clear you of any possible charges of
obstruction of justice due to your prior (false) account. Your testimony may also be required in a
court of law if we decide to take this case to a court. We would also like you to let us know if
you have any information on the shooters son if you have any, as we were looking to provide
protection for him and he has gone missing.
