Launch(10minutes):HavestudentsworkontheAssociative/CommutativeWarmupworksheet.They
mayworkingroupsoralone,howevertheybestlearn.
Displaythesewarmupdirectionsontheboard.
Redchipsrepresent1,yellowchipsrepresent+1.Includeexamples
Toshowadditiondrawthechipsawayfromthegroupwithanarrowindicating
theyarebeingaddedtothegroup.
Toshowsubtractiondrawthechipswiththegroup,circletheonesyouwouldlike
tosubtractanddrawanarrowshowingthembeingtakenaway.
Toshowmultiplicationformthechipsintoarectanglewiththefirstnumberbeing
thelengthandthesecondnumberbeingthewidth.
