Reflection

In this second semester I have grown both academically and as a global citizen. In my
geometry class m teacher Mr.Roxas assigned us a project to help us prepare for our final test.
Not only did we have to learn the material our selfs but we also had to take on the role of
teachers and teach the class. My partner and I did our presentation on Area and Perimeter of
Geometric Shapes. But before we could get present and teach the class we had to create a lesson
plan, test, and the PowerPoint. Creating the lesson plan wasnt as difficult because we had to do
the same project but with discrimination in our English class. The day of our presentation we
were ready to teach but we also knew it wasnt going to be easy to teach since some students
understand faster than others. While my partner presented her part I walked around to make sure
everyone understood and stayed on task. At the end of the presentation we gave a quick test. This
project shows I have grown academically because it was my responsibility to make sure
everyone in my class understood the material so they can be prepared for our final test. This
project also helped me see the perspective of teachers. It helped me understand what teachers go
through every day from preparing the assignment and presentations to teaching the class.
In my 11th grade English class my teacher made us read the book The Cather in The Rye
by J.D Salinger in class as well as individually at home. In this book the main character Holden
Caulfield goes through many problems many people can relate to in real life. The project for this
class was to inform younger peers about the book and also about the difficult situations the
character faced which anyone can relate to. My partners and I choose to focus on depression. We
had to analyze the book and get evidence as well as quotes to show that the character was
depressed. Since we needed to inform our peers we also looked for local organizations anyone
can contact in case they ever deal with this problem. We presented to a 6th grade class, I thought
it was going to be challenging for them to understand but they actually understood and even
asked questions. Also I believed that the topic was little too serious for 6 graders but we managed
to explain it in order for them to understand. This project shows I have grown as a global citizen
because I took action by informing younger peers about depression and how they can and were
to get help if they or someone they know ever faces this problem growing up.
