Script Presentation Day

Swetha: Hello my name is Swetha Naik, and welcome to our presentation. My colleagues Alison
Fiddes and Grace Brill were given the task to research Melbournes communication and come with a
way for it to be more effective. During our research we found out that there were not many
communication items that displayed news around in the city.
Alison: Our research went over three separate days. Our first day was in the city along with all our
fellow classmates that decided to study Communication and Ms Hatch. We went to the Australian
Centre of Moving Image also known as ACMI. It was really interesting there and we learned heaps
about how sound and image can effect somebodys perception of a movie. We also went to the
Wheeler centre and to the docklands library. Our planned day consisted of looking around the rest
of ACMI and conducting 28 different surveys. At channel 7 we went on a tour around the station
with John Deeks and got an interview with him which we will play now. Play video (2 mins)
Grace: We also got to interview SYN FM radio and Channel 31, we sadly could not record these but
we will read them out to you now... Read out interviews with Swetha. To improve Melbournes
communication we have decided to create a large TV that would be called M I A N (Melbournes
Information and News) also known as MIAN (Show Map of areas where it will be placed). MIAN will
be placed in popular areas of the city such as the stations and Melbourne Central.
Swetha: The Television will display different sections for the Global News and Local News as well as
the weather and things for tourists. The headlines for the Local and Global News will be easy to
understand and rotate every 15 seconds, depending on how many major news headlines there are
on a certain day. The purpose of the TV is to inform the people that work in the city of the important
Global and Local News that are happening/ happened. It also informs citizens and tourist who have
come from overseas about news that is happening from their home.
Grace: It will be funded by the government and advertisers. Ads wouldnt cover up the screen but
they would run across the bottom. People could also advertise cafes in the tourist section of the
television.
Alison: Overall we had such a good time working on this project. We learnt so much about
Melbournes communication and found it really interesting seeing how much different forms of
communication there are. Thanks to everybody that helped us along the way to get this far.
Swetha: So to finish off we have some photos of our time on city project.
