Practice Behavior 10.1
Substantively and affectively prepare for action with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. At GAL, I review clients files, stay in contact with social workers for updates regarding the cases, and make sure all documentation of visits and telephone contact is properly documented. I also make sure that court reports are submitted in a timely manner.

Use empathy and other interpersonal skills At GAL, I use empathy when interacting with clients and their caretakers, understanding that our cases are very sensitive. I listen carefully to all parties who I interact with and ask questions when needed.

Develop a mutually agreed on focus of work. At GAL, I work closely with all parties involved to help assess and intervene with services that may help our clients.

Collect, Organize, and interpret client data At GAL, Clients files are reviewed to ensure that the necessary data (court summaries, court reports, pictures, petitions, orders, etc) is present in the files.

10.5 - Assess Client strengths and limitations 10.6 Develop mutually agreed on interventions goals and objectives 10.7 Select appropriate intervention strategies At GAL, I attend Case Review every Thursday along with the social workers, social workers supervisor, clients, and all other parties involved to review the case and make recommendations on what needs to take place next.
Practice Behavior 10.8
Initiate Actions to achieve organizational goals. Since the ultimate goal in our agency is reunification with parents, I will stay in contact with parents to ensure that they are following their Family Services Case Plan and assess if they need other services.
Practice Behavior 10.9
Implement prevention interventions that enhance client capacities. After a case is closed, GAL will continue to be open to offer assistance if client has any future concerns.

Help Clients resolve problems I will allow clients to vent, use their own reasoning, and make their own decisions about what route they believe is best for them in order to be successful. I will support and guide them in order to help them resolve their problem.
Practice Behavior 10.11
Negotiate, mediate, and advocate for clients I will be sure that the voices of the children that I work with are heard. I will be sure that there needs/concerns/wishes are presented to the court.

Facilitate transition and endings I will facilitate transitions by after receiving a case building relationships with the families we are involved with and facilitate endings by making sure that before being released from the case allowing the involved parties to be aware of whats taking place.

Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate interventions During home and telephone visits, I will ask clients how their Family Services Case plan is coming. I will assess any progress or lack of in the client. I will also research interventions that may be effective for the client.
