    attendduringthecurrentsemester. Theperformanceforyourreviewshouldbe
    musicallyappropriatetothisclassandmustbeapprovedbytheinstructor. The
    reviewmustbetyped,doublespacedandapproximatelytwotothreepagesin
    length. You will be graded on correct grammar and spelling. The concert
    programmustbeattachedtoyourreview.
    Togetanideaofthebasicformatitwouldbehelpfultoreadseveralreviewsfrom
    variouspublications.Ingeneral,theopeningsectionshouldcontaintheFiveW's:
    who, what, when, where, why. The following part should briefly present the
    worksperformedasawhole,givingageneraloverviewoftheconcertintermsof
    style, mood, instrumentation, audience response, etc. The next section should
    center around your critical reaction to some or all of the pieces performed.
    Concentratingindepthononlyafewofthepiecesmightbemoreilluminating
    thanbrieflytryingtodescribeallthemusicperformed. Yourcommentsshould
    reflectyourdevelopingmusicalknowledge.
    Finally, you should close with your own highly subjective reaction to the
    concert(thumbsup,thumbsdown,andwhy).Beparticularlyawareofyourown
    musical tastes in making this judgment. This review is a chance for you to
    combinecriticalthoughtandlisteningskillswithcreativewritinginauniqueand
    hopefullyenjoyableway.
