1. Students to gather a range of magazines to cut up for collage materials. How does
the media represent women? Men? Present posters to the class.
2. How do the students feel, as male and female people, about being depicted in these
ways? Do the media images reflect the actual range of ages, cultures, and
ethnicities evident in their community?
3. Look at advertisements from various media what dies this advert hope to sell?
What does it use to get the message across colour? Bold lettering? Beautiful
people? What does the picture in the advertisement say about the way young
people should look or behave?
4. Does this advert aim to affect young people experiencing any particular pubertal
change? How do you think adverts like this affect people?
1. As a class, brainstorm health care agencies and people that could assist with health
care issues. Invite Public Health Care worker in to school.
2. Design a pamphlet promoting Someone I can talk to or Someone who can help
me the pamphlet to clearly describe the persons role and the support they can
provide.

POSITIVE PUBERTY ASSESSMENT ACTIVITY

Provide the students with line drawings of a male and a female body. The student could individually put labels on each picture to identify
as many of the changes that occur at puberty as possible (to include mental and emotional, social, spiritual, and physical changes).
