How We Organise Ourselves An inquiry into the interconnectedness of human-made systems and communities; the

Why we need people in the community to help us

Different organisations which cater for specific purposes

Language

Understand that people use different systems of communication to cater to different needs and purposes and that
many people may use sign systems to communicate with others.

Identify the parts of a simple sentence that represent Whats happening?, What state is being described?, Who
or what is involved? and the surrounding circumstances.

Explore differences in words that represent people, places and things (nouns, including pronouns), happenings
and states (verbs), qualities (adjectives) and details such as when, where and how (adverbs).

Recognise and know how to use morphemes in word families for example play in played and playing.

Recognise sound-letter matches including common vowel and consonant digraphs and consonant blends.

Literature

Discuss how authors create characters using language and images.

Mathematics
Number and Algebra

Develop confidence with number sequences to and from 100 by ones from any starting point. Skip
count by twos, fives and tens starting from zero.
Count collections to 100 by partitioning numbers using place value.
Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems using a range of strategies including
counting on, partitioning and rearranging parts.

Chinese/Mandarin

Art
Responding:

Vietnamese Language and Culture (VLC)

Year 2 will continue their next VLC topic with Action Verbs. During VLC lessons, the students will learn how to say
different useful action verbs through a variety of language games. They will also learn a new sentence structure: Ti
ang and apply their newly learnt vocabulary to describe what someone is doing in Vietnamese.

In unit 3, year 2 VNC will be continued on Vietnamese phonics, story-telling and handwriting:

un/n, ong/ng, ng/ng, ung/ng.
