A special course held in English for the 2nd year students
during the 4th semester.
No. of credits: 4
- Course code: LLJ2214
We will study together for 2 hours each
week the historical evolution, the current state and functions of several British institutions: the Monarchy, the Westminster Parliament, the Government, the Media.
On several occasions we will watch
shorter or longer films about famous British contemporary and historical personalities or tourist attractions (at your choice!).
If you want to find out how the Brits
spend their free time, what do they really think of pubs, the royals and the weather or what holidays do they celebrate, for whom do they usually vote, then you should join our group.
Hopefully this course will add to your
knowledge of Great Britain, its people, history and culture and maybe determine you to continue your studies there, work in or visit this fascinating country.
You will get a lot of info about their
educational system (and finally you will know which universities are the best and why), about their legal system, about the different ethnic groups that form the complex and vibrant contemporary British society, about the relationships between the UK and the USA or the EU (European Union).
