Network capabilities
The C1G consists of a base system with one DOCSIS MAC interface consisting of
one downstream DQM QAM and up to two upstream DCU interfaces.
The single DOCSIS QAM interface provides DOCSIS packet processing and QoS,
DOCSIS downstream MAC, PHY, and RF up-conversion over 8 channels using one
physical output port. The single DOCSIS Control and Upstream (DCU) interface
includes DOCSIS packet processing, DOCSIS upstream MAC, and burst mode
receivers over 4 channels per each physical port (2).
A standard configuration for channel bonded deployment can be utilizing both
upstream channels and the single downstream channel, 8DSx8US for a 1:1 channel
ratio for up to 400 Mbps downstream bandwidth in Annex A.
For complete information on the C1G features and capabilities, see the Casa Systems
C1G CMTS Data Sheet.
C1G chassis
The C1G chassis is a 1RU enclosure that can be positioned on any flat surface or
installed in a standard 19-inch equipment rack in an AC power environment. Rack
mounting hardware components are included with the chassis to facilitate mounting in
the many rack variations available today.

Always unplug or disconnect the power cable before installing or removing the
unit.
Locate the emergency power-off switch for the room in which you are working. If
an electrical accident occurs, turn off the power immediately.
Required tools
The following tools are necessary for C1G installation:
Level, power drill and bits, and mounting hardware for the optional wall mounting
kit and the optional standalone dual power module pocket.
2-3
Shipping contents
The following items are included with the C1G:
Rack mounting hardware (brackets, screws, and power module support mount)
DC power modules with AC power cables (as ordered for the destination country)
Installation procedure
Use the following procedure to install the C1G rack mounting hardware. The
hardware kit consists of steel mounting brackets (4), flathead screws (17), and the dual
power module support. Installing the dual power module support provides the correct
chassis width for installing the C1G in a standard rack.
2-4
Note: Each mounting bracket in the kit is unique and each will properly align
with their intended mounting points. You will not be able to mismatch any of
the brackets during the kit installation.
1.
Locate the rack mounting hardware kit included in the shipping box.
2.
Referring to Figure 2-1 (Step 1), attach the dual power module support bracket to
the C1G using three (3) screws. Tighten the screws until snug.
3.
Using two (2) screws, attach the appropriate right-angle bracket to the back of the
support bracket. See Figure 2-1 (Step 2).
4.
Using six (6) screws, attach the dual power module right angle bracket to the left
side of the C1G and to the back of the support. See Figure 2-1 (Step 3).
5.
Using three (3) screws, attach the support to the left-front right-angle bracket. See
Figure 2-1 (Step 4).
6.
Using three (3) screws, attach the right-front right-angle bracket directly to the
C1G. See Figure 2-1 (Step 5).
7.
When ready, lift the system up to the desired height in the rack and secure the
system to the rack using four screws.
Note: You must provide the four screws that attach the C1G CMTS to the rack
since the requirements for these screws will vary depending on the
specifications from the rack manufacturer.

For optical SFP modules, locate the transmit (TX) and the receive (RX) markings
that identify the topside of the SFP module.
Align the back (receive) end of the SFP module with the front faceplate, then
insert the module into the G0 port until you feel the connector snap into place.
