GUIDELINES FOR RADNORS PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

1. When the teacher or a student is speaking to the class:


a. No one else should be talking
b. Raise your hand if you have a question to ask or a
comment to make.
c. Dont interrupt!
2. You will have PE class __ time per 5 Day cycle. What is Physical Education?
Movement challenges balance, coordination,
Sports and sports skills
Games
Fitness heart and lung fitness, muscle strength,
Dance
Recreational activities hiking, biking, skiing,
3. Specials schedule is 5 days and you must check your calendar to know which day it is. Check the
RES website.
4. Everyone should wear the proper uniform for the next time.
a. Boys and girls: MUST WEAR sneakers (soft sole, non-marking shoes ONLY). NO crocs, sandals,
flip flops, roller sneakers, cleats, toms, boots, uggs, dress shoes. You ARE ALLOWED: sneakers, mules,
Keanes. They MUST have traction, protection, support, proper fit. Toes must be covered, sneaker
should be secured onto foot so it doesnt fall off, shoes tied, Velcro ok, slide ons ok if they cover the heel.
b. Girls only: shorts, tights or slacks, etc.
c. Dress for movement! - nothing too tight or too loose.
5. When you are coming into PE class in the gymnasium:
a. Leave articles such as pencils, jewelry including rings, watches, necklaces,
change money (coins), etc., in your classroom desks; but if you forget, put them in the
gym box . If you take off a jacket, sweat shirt, or hoodie, place it near the gym box against the wall.
b. Always stop at the entrance doors and wait for the teachers signal to enter. If waiting
in the hall, please wait along the wall closest to the gym next to the bulletin board.
c. Enter and walk into squads. Do NOT run in, yell or scream, or touch others or equipment.
6. When having PE class in the gymnasium: Never leave the gymnasium to go somewhere else unless
you ask permission from the teacher first, (band lessons, nurse, office)
You may use the bathroom or get a drink of water except when directions are being given or groups are
being formed. Otherwise:
a. Take the bathroom/drink eraser with you (located next to the gym office door) and return it when
done.
b. Wait your turn. Only one person at a time is allowed to have the eraser out due to class
disruptions and safety reasons.
c. You are only allowed out one time per PE period.
d. Use good drink manners: Wait your turn, No pushing or touching, NO loud noises.

e. Use good bathroom manners - Knock first - FLUSH and WASH If the bathroom is messy when you
go in, report it to the teacher when you come out! We need to know!
7. PE class indoors or outdoors:
a. In the beginning, teacher will let your classroom teacher know.
b. Later, we will have a signal so students will know.
When coming to or from outdoors for PE:
a. Walk on the sidewalk (never go in the street) b. We go out as a class and come in as a class.
c. Walk briskly. Meet at the side of the field.
8. No one is allowed in the gymnasium section of the school building unless a PE teacher is present in
the gym or a qualified adult is supervising students.
a. Never use, pick up, or move any PE equipment - inside or outside - unless the teacher
has given permission.
b. No students are allowed in the gym equipment room except by teacher permission.
c. STAY OFF any mats or equipment stored in the gym at all times, especially stacked
mats (unless directed to use it).
9. DO NOT CHEW GUM DURING PE CLASS - and no cough drops in your mouth while participating.
YOU COULD CHOKE ON IT.
a. NO food or drink is allowed in the gym at any time except water.
b. If you make a mess, clean it up. If you see a mess, report it.
10. One Player Difference Rule: If necessary a team is permitted to play with one
extra player. (This prevents players from having to sit out of a game.)
11. FIGHTING AND CURSING IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANY TIME: If someone hits, pushes, or shoves
you, report it to the teacher immediately.
a. Disagreements will happen. Solve them peacefully - use words!
b. Go to Rock, Paper, Scissors if necessary to quickly solve the problem.
12. Equipment safety - use PE equipment properly and safely
13. Peer interaction - try to get along with others. Be positive.
a. No teasing
b. Be a good sport.
c. Be a good teammate.
14. Good Choice/ Bad choice - consequences
a. YELLOW SLIPS: Most times you will get a warning before you have to pull a yellow slip. If you do
something that is very rude, disruptive then you may have to pull a yellow slip right away.
b. LETTER sent home if bad choice behavior continues.

15. Grades skills: 4 exceptional, 3 meets all expectations, 2 makes some mistakes on proper
technique some times, 1 not able to perform the skill using proper techniques
