IN THE SPACE BELOW, DESCRIBE THE ARTIFACT AND HOW IT RELATES TO THE CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK OF THE EDUCATION PROGRAM: The article is a summary of the report done by the National Reading Panel covering the meta-analysis on phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. The report covers socioeconomic diversity in the education of reading which covers the diversity portion of the Conceptual framework. Pedagogy is covered in the summary of the report which suggests the best way to teach and use the information in the report. The content of the reflection is covered in the breakdown and knowledge on the topic of reading education. IN THE SPACE BELOW, DESCRIBE AND EXPLAIN IN WHAT WAY(S) THIS ARTIFACT RELATES TO THE COURSE OBJECTIVE(S) YOU ALIGNED IT WITH AND HOW IT CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR GROWING COMPETENCE IN THE EDUCATION PROGRAM: Through the summary I was able to learn and apply all of the course objectives. The summary covers how to best incorporate phonemic awareness and phonics into a balanced reading program. Phonics is best used with phonemes and graphemes to help students learn to read and spell. Phonemic awareness should be used early in education to help students develop sound and meaning while learning to read and write. Assessments should be used to find a students baseline and determine the level of phonics instruction required. Students with different learning abilities and/or socioeconomic status need special consideration when it comes to reading programs and assessments which will help determine the length and intensity of instruction.
