RELATES TO THE COURSE OBJECTIVE(S) YOU ALIGNED IT WITH AND HOW IT
CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR GROWING COMPETENCE IN THE EDUCATION PROGRAM:
The artifact helps to maximize time and efficiency in the classroom through organization and preparation of the
classroom and the teacher. The tools in the notebook which help with time and efficiency are a check list to
prepare for the first day of school, a substitute folder template, communication to students and parents, and a
classroom floor plan. The artifact also helps to create a learning environment for all students through classroom
rules, procedures, social skills training, and engaging students through active participation. The rules,
procedures, social skills will be taught early on to prevent students from getting off task and to communicate
effectively throughout life. Students background and environment are taken into consideration when creating
consequences for off task behavior and breaking classroom rules. The goal is to help students learn to make
better choices and not punish them for making the wrong choice. The information for behavioral interventions
and consequences will be collected through observations and conversations with the teachers and faculty at the
school, the student, and the parents. Active participation is used to keep all students on task and involved in the
learning process. Many of the pieces in the artifact were created as electronic templates to be adapted for use in
an actual classroom or teaching position.
