2014 CMPE172/272 Individual Written Assignment #1.

Write a 2 to 3 page paper double-spaced with an area focusing on an aspect(s)of
scaling out a system or an application. In class we talked about clusters, there are
other technologies such as load balancers. Many enterprise platforms have built-in
mechanisms to scale them out. You should research two or more technologies and
explain what are different strategies to allow an application/system to scale in an
enterprise environment. You should not only explain these technologies or methods,
but also compare and contrast them.

Your paper should have an introduction, 3 mains points and ideas well developed
and a conclusion.

You should have on a separate sheet a references and research page.

You must submit in word format on Canvas before the due date.

To get full credit you must also perform two peer reviews on other student
assignments.

The assignment is worth 10 points. It will be graded on the following criteria

Depth & Breath
Quality of references
Formatting (both of paper and references)
You ability to explain the concepts
