Chair of the English Department for grades 4-12 (2014-present)


Responsible for the management of a department of 20 teachers and for the consistent implementation of the
schools mission, philosophy, and goals across grade levels. Provided curriculum leadership; participated in the
hiring, induction, retention, assignment, and supervision of department members; monitored student achievement;
and oversaw the integration of the discipline into the total school program.
Junior High School Dean (2007-2014)
Provided direct support for students in 7th and 8th grade by collaborating with students, teachers, advisors, coaches,
other administrators, and families. Monitored academic/behavioral issues, supported faculty in increasing usage of
the LMS and email communication with families, coordinated academic support teams, and administered discipline
as needed. Kept track of and helped mitigate transitional issues for students entering and leaving junior high.
Oversaw all activities during the 7th and 8th grade including overnight experiential education fieldtrips and oncampus enrichment days. Ran weekly faculty meetings in which class climate and individual students were
discussed. Served as a liaison between teachers and families by mediating teacher/parent/guardian conferences.
Coordinated the 7th/8th grade advisor program by creating curriculum and advisor training.
8th & 12th Grade English Teacher (2005-present)
Created and taught lesson plans that developed autonomous thinkers who can synthesize literature with personal
experience to articulate a personal and evolving version of the human experience.
7th Grade Language Arts (2010-2013)
Developed and taught a new course, which fostered active reading habits in the junior highs most reluctant
readers. During the 2011-2012 school year, this course piloted a one-to-one iPad program that was later adopted by
the entire junior high.
