Hello! Im Ms. Monzo.

I grew up in Wyoming, MI and that is
where I fell in love with teaching. I
enjoyed school so much as a child that I
decided to become a teacher. Now I get
to teach students and simultaneously
learn from them for the rest of my
career! W hats better than that?
When I am not teaching, I am usually
hanging out with my family, spending
time outdoors, watching movies, reading,
attending yoga classes, or researching
fun things to try with my students.
I hope you enjoy my take on Classroom
Management!

Answer students questions before they are asked!

Do you have to have super powers
to answer students questions before they
are asked? The answer is no! Simply come
up with procedures, teach those
procedures, and be consistent.
Procedures in the classroom help
students feel safe and secure. When they
know how to act and what to do in the
classroom, their learning environment is
predictable and they can focus more of
their attention on the information being
taught.

I use the word Expectations
because Rules give students the wrong
idea. Rules are meant to be broken but
expectations are meant to be lived up to.

Disruptive Behavior is a tricky thing

to handle because it can come in so many
forms. I do have meetings with my students
and have them fill out a form regarding
their behavior in the classroom when I see
that they have not done their best to meet
my expectations. However, those meetings
are not always enough. When it comes to
turning disruptive behavior into a teachable
moment, I use Logical Consequences. If a
student is not doing what they are
supposed to be doing, I have them correct
their behavior in a logical way. Putting their
heads down does not teach them how to
act in the future.
