NIU and U of I was unavailable on their websites.

2. Student Teaching What did you learn about options for student
teaching at your chosen college/university?
I learned that I can do student teaching through WMU at either a high
school or middle school however, it must be for one whole semester
and I must be involved in extracirricular activities as well.

Yes, all 3 institutions are on the lists of approved schools for their
states.
2. Which content test will you need to take?
I will need to take the Science: Biology (105) content test.

3. Will you have to complete the edTPA?


Yes, I will have to take the edTPA test.
4. What did you learn about the edTPA?
I learned that this exam is so teacher candidates can demonstrate
what they can bring to the table as future educators. It asses each
candidates ability to effectively teach certain subjects to every and all
students.

5. What is the APT test?


The APT (Assessment of Professional Teaching) test is a test which

assesses candidates on the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards (IPTS) and


the language arts and technology standards for all teachers. One must pass
the APT in order to complete an approved teacher preparation program in
Illinois.

6. How do you apply for licensure?


In order to apply for licensure, you must pass the TAP test, your
content exam, the APT test, and completion of an approved Illinois
educator preparation program for the type of endorsement sought that
includes coursework. Upon completion of the program, the Illinois
institution will notify ISBE via ELIS that you qualify for a license and/or
endorsement. This process is called entitlement. After all of this is
complete, you may apply for licensure at the Illinois State Board of
Education website.
