Dr. Richard Ajioka

Scientist
Biofire Diagnostics, Inc.
390 Wakara Way
Salt Lake City, UT 84108
Dear Dr. Ajioka,
I am writing to you with regards to the internship position offered within the Research and Development
department at Biofire Diagnostics, Inc. I understand this position is for the Biochemistry group working
under your direct supervision.
Marc Elgort and Mary Nelson, the program coordinators at InnovaBio, have strongly encouraged me to
contact and present my resume to you, and I believe that my unique background and abilities make me an
ideal candidate for this internship.
I have always had a strong desire to work in a biological research laboratory because I am naturally curious
and like to solve problems. Much of my academic career path has consisted of improving my molecular and
cellular biology knowledge. I greatly enjoy learning and analyzing new things, and I especially like the thought
of using my knowledge and skills to improve the healthcare industry. I admire the idea of working towards an
objective that improves the world. The atmosphere at BioFire seems to promote this sort of mentality. The
company appears to value their commitment to making the world a healthier place and improving peoples
quality of life. I think that with both my current knowledge, and my desire to learn, I would be a valuable
asset for this organization.
As I stated above, I am looking for a work environment that constantly stimulates my curiosity and challenges
me to grow intellectually. I believe that this research internship is the perfect opportunity for me to gain a
better understanding of the biological research field because it will provide me the opportunity to
demonstrate my skills as well as gain new aptitudes working alongside experienced research mentors. I
believe that my previous laboratory research experience including fruit fly genetics, molecular cloning, and
bacteriophage assembly and infection mechanisms will help the research department achieve their
objectives. Furthermore, I am very passionate about working in this field of study. My passion for knowledge
and understanding has helped me in achieving a notable set of attributes such as diligence and reliability. I
believe that these attributes, along with my previous laboratory experience and eagerness to learn make me
an ideal fit for this position.
I would like to give you a call in two weeks on Monday December 1 to inquire further about this position.
Thank you very much for taking the time to consider me as a candidate for this position. I look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Catalina Valdebenito
