Scientist Biofire Diagnostics, Inc. 390 Wakara Way Salt Lake City, UT 84108 Dear Dr. Ajioka, I am writing to you with regards to the internship position offered within the Research and Development department at Biofire Diagnostics, Inc. I understand this position is for the Biochemistry group working under your direct supervision. Marc Elgort and Mary Nelson, the program coordinators at InnovaBio, have strongly encouraged me to contact and present my resume to you, and I believe that my unique background and abilities make me an ideal candidate for this internship. I have always had a strong desire to work in a biological research laboratory because I am naturally curious and like to solve problems. Much of my academic career path has consisted of improving my molecular and cellular biology knowledge. I greatly enjoy learning and analyzing new things, and I especially like the thought of using my knowledge and skills to improve the healthcare industry. I admire the idea of working towards an objective that improves the world. The atmosphere at BioFire seems to promote this sort of mentality. The company appears to value their commitment to making the world a healthier place and improving peoples quality of life. I think that with both my current knowledge, and my desire to learn, I would be a valuable asset for this organization. As I stated above, I am looking for a work environment that constantly stimulates my curiosity and challenges me to grow intellectually. I believe that this research internship is the perfect opportunity for me to gain a better understanding of the biological research field because it will provide me the opportunity to demonstrate my skills as well as gain new aptitudes working alongside experienced research mentors. I believe that my previous laboratory research experience including fruit fly genetics, molecular cloning, and bacteriophage assembly and infection mechanisms will help the research department achieve their objectives. Furthermore, I am very passionate about working in this field of study. My passion for knowledge and understanding has helped me in achieving a notable set of attributes such as diligence and reliability. I believe that these attributes, along with my previous laboratory experience and eagerness to learn make me an ideal fit for this position.
