Bravery Fair

Date of Event: Wednesday, December 3


Time: During lunch and study hall periods
Goals for the day:
1. Explain the role of how media depicts gender bias
2. Explain typical stereotypes, and how students can break them
3. Encouraging Bravery within yourself
Students will have the option to go to four different stations in various locations around the
room. The sessions would include:
1. Tunnel
a. Students will see a timeline from 1900 to present day, which depicts a change in the
ideals of beauty and gender roles in the media.
2. Post Secret
a. Students will prepare an anonymous note with an insecurity they have.
b. Session will include discussion on how students can overcome their insecurities
3. Stereotype Awareness
a. Images of people will be displayed and the students will identity and disprove
common stereotypes.
4. Bravery Video
a. We have prepared a video with Mount Union students and faculty holding
whiteboards depicting their definition of bravery.

5. While the activities are going on Mount Union students from the class will be around to
facilitate and have discussion cards to involve the students.
6. There will be a Live-Tweet along with the hashtag, BraveryFair2014 to encourage
discussion
Location: The desirable location would be the gymnasium, but we are open to any open room the
school has open for the day.
Setup: Would the class be able to come into the school a day early to set up? If not we could
come in early the day of the fair.
