MORE ABOUT HIM

The 2000s launched a new era and new opportunities for Hans, he began
composing some very impressive scores including Pearl Harbor, The
Ring, Black Hawk Down, Tears of The Sun, Days of Thunder, Pirates
of The Caribbean, Spirit the Stallion of the Cimarron, A Sharks Tale,
Madagascar and so many more.
I have chosen Hans Zimmer because not only is he an amazing composer
he is my favorite. I have chosen a few of his greatest pieces from my
favorite sound tracks.
I always saw 'Pirates' as rock-and-roll scores, because pirates were sort of
the rock-and-rollers of the past."
-Hans Zimmer

History of Pirates:
Hans was inspired by the Pirates of the past to score the entire series
of movies, he wanted a harder soundtrack with some goofy sounds to
match the personalities of the pirates particularly one pirate, Capitan
Jack Sparrow, who is as goofy as he is tough. After watching the
movie and seeing the personality of each character Hans finally
wrote his composition and began what would be one of his greatest
works of art.

Form: The form has a very high contrast and varies

throughout.
Harmony/ Texture The song is Dissonant with an
exciting instability through out the song. The Texture
is Full and there is a lot going on in the song that
makes it feel very full. The song is a Polyphony with
many different melodic lines going on at once. The
song is very beautiful and intense.

This song is in Strophic form but has some Imitation in

parts, it also has some call and response in the song
at 8:45. The expression of the song is Presto with a
very fast paced beat and tempo.

The song begins with the strings and horns playing an intense
rhythm together in harmony 0:30. At 0:46 the volume begins to grow
and the beat has a hard count, at 1:15 the strings break into
different parts and the percussion begins.
At 1:57 the song slows a little and the vocals come in with a chant
in polyphony form.
At 2:57 the songs slows down into a Bridge, changing the rhythm of
the song but keeping the monophony chant going. The strings are
the only instrument in this section other than a few bells and horns.
At 3:51 the song changes and comes almost to a complete stop
bringing the volume low and the harmony back into a monophony.
At this point in the song the range is very high its all over the place
giving this song a unique sound.

At 6:30 the Chorus starts again with the main theme picking up,
with a monophony chant
At 7:21 the strings start to play at a higher octave and make the
song go into a more major mode bringing the pitch up.
At 9:01 the song does a complete 180 and goes into an almost
romantic overtone with the strings as the lead melody
At 9:50 it sounds like they almost have a bridge in there to give
the listener a feeling of suspense. And the song slowly fades out.
This song was hard to listen to because there was a lot in this
song. Hans is a musical genius.

Overall studying the life and music by Hans Zimmer has given me better
insight on music itself, I still have a hard time understanding music
completely but thats why im in a beginners music class. Thank you for
the opportunity to do this fun project.
