Learning Activity #1

Introduction
Greeting them as they come into the gym
Run 5 laps, 5 sit-ups and 5 pushups as their regular warm-up activity
Sit in circle when they are done
Does anyone know remember which two drills we talked about last
class? (Dribbling and passing)
When we pass a ball to a partner we want to keep the ball controlled
so we do not accidently hit our partner in the face with the ball
There is no fighting, pushing or shoving allowed in the gym
In soccer we keep our hands to ourselves
If we listen very well for the first couple minutes, we are going to play
a soccer game for most of the class
The first thing we are going to do is stretch so that the whole class is
ready to play!
Body
Itsy Bitsy Spider Stretch
Stretching is very important before we play sports!
I will demonstrate this stretch once and then we will do it together as a
class
Demonstrate it
The Itsy Bitsy Spider climbed up the water spout, down came the rain
and washed the spider out, out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
so, the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again
Okay, grade ones I need everyone standing up and we are going to do

Big Net Soccer Game with cones and passing

We are going to play a big net soccer game!
I would like you to practice passing to other players on your team and
when you get the ball I want to see you dribbling it between your feet
to move it
I am going to split you up into 2 teams, green and yellow
If you are a green go to that wall and sit down against the wall
Do not climb on the mats!
I want everyone to point to the wall that greens go to
Can someone tell me what greens do when they get to that wall?
If you are yellow you will go to that wall and sit down against the wall
Can everyone point to where the yellows go
Someone tell me what the yellows do when they are against their wall?
Can someone tell me if we are to stay off the mats?
I will choose a goalie when I come to each side
Give them their jerseys and tell them not to move until I tell them
Once all jerseys are given okay, yellows you can carefully run over to
your wall and sit down
Okay greens you can carefully run over to your wall and sit down
Set up the nets, balls and pylons

Walk over to each side to ask which student wants to be the goalie
Put pylons in the middle and balls in the middle and GO!

Raise your hand CLASS CLASS CLASS

Okay sit where you are!
When I say go! I would like Reagan and mia to please take one net over
here and Quinn and colten can take the other one
Can I get Jayda, Layla, Gracie and Ocean to bring all the balls up here
and the rest of the greens and yellows I need you to drop your jerseys
off in the bins by the door and line up quietly at the door
